Smaug looks a little "meh" to me. But I'm sure it's just a poor shot. WETA can do miracles with their CGI.

I'm fully embarrassed to say I haven't seen the 1st hobbit movie yet. I better get off my rump and either buy it or get it via my cable provider or something.

A lot of the CGI in the trailer looks "meh", particularly in comparison to LOTR. There's just something not quite right about a lot of it. And I knew he'd be back, but damn, I saw Azog. I'd hoped he some how wouldn't return, just because of how much he stood out due to his CGI.

Ah well. Loved the first, and this looks pretty good too.

One word: AWESOME. B)

However, I'm a little torn on this trailer, as An Unexpected Journey left me a bit underwhelmed. I still liked it, but Jackson's interest in cramming whatever appendice material Tolkien wrote really bogged it down and the pacing suffered as a result. Hopefully there's less fluff and more of the good stuff in this one.

Also, I'm surprised by how prominent Legolas is in the trailer. He wasn't even in the bloody book!

I don't care about the new Hobbit movies it's a short book stretched over three films no thanks.

Yeah, pretty much. Especially since the first movie got mediocre reviews and the people I know who saw it didn't even like it.

I'll pass.

I'm interested, I liked the first one.

They don't compare to the LOTR films unfortunately, but I don't care about the additions or the length as it's just stuff that was in the Silmarillion anyway.

Looking forward to drunk elves and surffing dwarves (and a hobbit)!

Elves need to be drunker though, they seem to be parkouring those trees way too easily... but I have faith, since Jackson included trolling Rivendell elves in Unexpected Journey, so maybe we get book canon here as well.

/read the book.

Also that's some impressive makeup Bloom is sporting - what is he, 35 now? Looks like he hasn't aged a day... but they preformed the same sorcery on Cate Blachett, so I guess I shoudn't be surprised.

Cate Blachett doesn't age like we do... Or humans do anyway, she only becomes more beautiful with age.

Definitely sorcery on Mr.Bloom though.

I am like 90% sure that woman has found the fountain of youth and she shall live glorious forever. I wish she'd share.

Actually, the book itself is stretched over 2 movies, which I tihnk is fine. The rest of the material comes from the LotR appendices.

I was somewhat underwhelemed by the first movie, but I still enjoyed it. I'll definitely see this one, but I'm no nearly as excited about it as I was for the LotR movies.

I find this lame and offensive
If Hobbit can be streteched over 3 movies.
Then LoTR trilogy should be stretched over 9 movies, especially since Hobbit feels like a children's bedtime story.

P.S: WTF is Legolas doing in this movie?
Next thing you will tell me is that he will be the one who will shoot down Smaug.

I'm confused, is Orlando Bloom playing two different characters?

Evangeline Lilly looks awesome, whoever did her wardrobe etc. deserves a raise.

Ok. I thought this was hilarious. Here's a vid of two fangirls geeking out over the trailer:

And in this video a couple of familiar faces react to them:
