3 failed attempts at week 2 challenge already. Phantoms are going to be an issue. :blink:  I need to do more damage to shields. I tried with incendiary, shields specced for armor, and concussive. I'm thinking of changing everything to shield damage, except then atlases will take a while.. hmm.

I go to use the Scope that Highlights enemies through smoke, seeing that Cerberus spam smoke A LOT. I start using it I start liking it.

I then realize that I can turn about 5 degrees a second... ARGH!!!!!!! :( Giving it a break, I will try again later.

Just tried the new challenge for the first time.

Wave 7 and ALL THE TURRETS dropped me to nil med-gels and 1 ops.

Then I got insta-stabbed by a phantom the next wave. :(

I made a quick test on a pug and I still don't really know how I am going to deal with phantoms... :/ I think maybe spamming concussive shot at point blank ? It's pretty dangerous and I have to try it more to see if it's effective.

Here's the screenshot and I'll put on confirmation video with my build when it's done done. There is plenty of time for improvement since I didn't get a chance to nuke a single spawn.

And to all those worrying about shields, if you are doing so because of Atlases it might be better to focus on triple hits with AP or Drill rounds. Phantoms aren't too bad since it's a grenade friendly map and you can use the grenades to inflict damage or set them up for headshots. The bigger problem is 'goon squads cornering you in while you are spending time on Atlases or Phantoms.

Well, I lost my video for the first weekly challenge, so no HoF for me on week one.

In the process of losing that, I did edit this video of gameplay inspired by the challenge.... I did mean to actually do a solo on this one (thus why I was recording), but am so used to PuGging that I absentmindedly clicked "Search".

@Qui-Gon Glenn: I'll still accept screenshots from week 1 if you feel like ever having a go at it again. :)

@kouzrah: That's what my issue was. I used incendiary but it still took too long to get them out of the way. I'm out of AR amps so I'll have to play a bit more a refuel.I had devices on 3 and 10.. no chance. haha. RNG will play a big part in this one.

Ah devices are a pain, it's a pretty difficult solo so don't think you're doing anything wrong. :happy:

I thought about that. The weapon is only limited because that's the official set up shep' s clone uses as soldier class. I figured that most people attempting the solo's will have at least the valkyrie I. That being said, I was going to be sure to make next week's a bit easier to change the tempo (w/ rare guns).

I am sure I can`t  Posted Image. Dealing with multiple Dragoons/Phantom with Hit-scan Valkyrie alone won`t be easy for me.
Maybe if I am more experienced with concussive shot, I might feel confident. but I haven`t use that skill for months.

I hear you. I'm hoping I can get it done haha! It's definitely a tough challenge but so rewarding when you pull it off. (I think) Also, last week's challenge is still open, so if you or anyone still wants to give it a shot, I'll add your name to the HoF :)

I have it a lvl V and I would have no problem with a solo (except that I don't have any time to play). But I'm thinking about the fact that the Valkyrie is one of the weapons with the biggest difference in damage from lvl I-X. So if someone has it a lvl I and is not a regular soloer, then this challenge would be near impossible for such a player.

In all honesty, these challenges should be done with uncommon or rare weapons. And the first challenge at least had an option in weapon choice which I found was really good. This challenge could have been something like "Use any assault rifle of common, uncommon or rare status. Valkyrie is allowed as only UR option".

I never had the Valkyrie in the SP, and Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 I actually completed on insanity using the Avenger only on my Soldier.

No.

This is nothing more than a myth that refuses to die, the Valkyrie DOES NOT scale differently than other weapons, it gains the basic 25% damage from level I - X.

100 x 2.5 = 250
110 x 2.5 = 275

And so since 275 / 250 = 1.10 the upgraded gun is 10% stronger after modifiers.

Compare the Avenger to the Valkyrie as an example. The Avenger between lvl I-X is not really that noticeable on Gold, but the Valkyrie between lvl I-X is really noticeable, even though they scale the same. Like the Avenger is bad at lvl I and it is still bad at lvl X, but the Valkyrie is a tad "bad" on lvl I but is an amazing weapon at lvl X. Same scale damage wise but totally different scale performance wise (at least that is my feeling when using some weapons).

You're gonna need Concussive shot with as low CD as possible.
Spamming it is a godsend.

This is the build I use whnever I'm putting a weapon on that I know ain't got the punch.

As you can see 1 Concussive shot does 1880 dmg to barriers but the real beauty comes with 6B Shredding that increases all dmg to organics by 200% over 10 seconds making it a kill all DOT when accompanied by tech bursts it'll manage to kill mooks and Phantoms.
The only problem is the Atlas. Everything else is actually quite trivial.
There's also the fact of low shields so I may have to ditch the power amp for a cylonic but it'll still do wonders, there's also Frag grenades.
I specced out of AR due it being nothing but a survival power and blinding power in this solo. You can see absolutely nothing outside with it unless you took a Geth Scanner which is mandatory due to the enemy using the outside and smoke like crazy.
I also got to wave 7 and then got taken out by an invisible turret. I rage quit afterwards.

It's simple math like me0120 already said. 25% increase in base damage = 25% increase in DPS. Period.
Doesn't matter how high or low the base damage is because the RoF doesn't change.
And a Valkyrie I does far more damage than an Avenger X, not really a good comparison.
