Good solo map (minus some of the objectives), waves survived will all come down to the d@mn Marauders. Looks like a ton of multi-frag grenades will be used.

Yeah, this is a lot of fun.

Made it to wave 9 on my first try, used two gels, five ops packs and one missile. Got Pizza and Devices as my objectives. Unfortunately one of my ops glitched on wave 5, so I didn't get the survivor medal. I have to say, the Striker is a lot better than I thought it was (even at level 1 it was killing marauders in 6-7 hits). Will give this another try after I restock on supplies and get some more upgrades for the Striker/extra gel capacity.

Edited for Build - Also used Cryo III. Definitely need to get it upgraded before I try again, needing two full mags to take down a Banshee's barriers + 2 bars of armor meant I had to kite like mad. I finished with a 62-minute time because I'm apparently too proud to use missiles...

First attempt at insanity; Tons of banshee warps through walls brought me down, not mauraders.

Ah, new challenge! Awesome! I look forward to these every week. :D

My build for this challenge:

kalence.drupalgardens.com/me3-builder#28!1A01545!!53X513!08.9G

I've decided to go with the quick Shield Regen build with Hyrda Missles for mook stagger. We'll see how it goes.

Ravagers were the problem, sniping you from across the map. Banshee balls pretty much did the same thing at the most inconvenient times...

Almost had 10 Waves Survived... freakin' Ravager shots + Banshee ball death on my way to the last device! Nooooooo!

Wave 3: Pizza
Wave 6: Devices
Wave 10: Devices

Got trolled by devices TWICE... I couldn't believe it. :(

Build:

kalence.drupalgardens.com/me3-builder#28!1A03515!!53X513!08.9G + Incendiary IV

Congrats! First insanity completion of the week! That's impressive, especially with double devices. Nice job! Interesting taking the hawk missile launcher. I was considering the frag grenades but that's not a bad idea and it seemed to pay off!

@me0120: You got it next run! That's close and a solid time too! I'm hoping to give this a shot tonight.

@FatherofPearl: I'm impressed. With a level 1 striker? good job!

Tried insanity very late last night. Got 5 waves survived, then it all fell apart on wave 6 devices. A lot of kiting banshees, while getting sniped by Mauraders/Ravagers. Used sub-optimal equipment cause it was just a trial and still almost finished wave 9.

Nice job getting the 5 waves. Yeah, devices on 6 or 10 is brutal. It seems like it's a quite doable challenge though. Maybe I'm not making them hard enough :P. jk, I think this is a good difficulty (hopefully I can get it done).

Nice challenge again ;) On London there are two of my top 5 devices of doom. The one under the stairs and the one at the bottom end of the stairs on the LZ side. Let us see if someone completes the challenge with one of these devices ;)

First run was a winner.

Objectives: Hack, Escort, Hack

For the Insanity run I chose a DM-less Power-Build, basically Leland Gaunt strategy again: Grenade all the things.
The build gives me good Husk-control (Refire Time, Hydra missiles), maximum power damage ('nades) and only a 100 points shield penalty.

It's pretty obvious in the video (uploading) that it was the first run - no spawn control strategy, some bad decisions.
Got 5 WS and immediately went down at the beginning of Wave 6  (2 gels)
Wave 7 was really bad with 2 Ravagers and 3 Marauders (2 gels), Waves 8 and 9 went a lot more smoothly because I had 4 good missiles (no killstreaks for some reason though) and just started to 'nade the **** out of Banshees (why not earlier...). So I really recommend doing that for the Insanity challenge.

Had 2 gels left after 7, got 3 waves survived for 8, 9 and 10. So those waves felt really good. One clean-up missile for Wave 10, no Ops Packs.
I feel this is quite a decent time for Insanity - but I'm sure Hendrix or Knocking will prove me wrong.

Will give the Hardcore challenge a go later tonight or the next couple of days.

Excellent.  I love the DM-less build.  It is the only way I have every truly enjoyed playing the destroyer.  It is what I will use too.

Tried again, got the five waves survived, but got magnet grabbed at about 3/4 done on a Wave 10 Hack. I like the build I'm using (6/0/6/6/6, see top of page), but not being able to dodge in DM is getting a bit annoying. Final time was 54:17 with a score of about 213k, but since I didn't extract, I didn't take a picture. Still using a Striker I because the RNG hates me.

To The Eight and Max Dmian, those times are pretty solid! Are either of you going to try and crack the 40min Insanity barrier, or just stick to what you've got?

Nice job man, especially with a Striker I!
Being able to dodge is one of the reasons I like the DM-less build for the Destroyer.
Since I relied mostly on power damage, I wanted Power Amp IV - and not being able to dodge Banshee Warp Balls without Cyclonics could be problematic on waves 8, 9 and 10, with Ravagers and Marauders in the mix on such an open map.

I'm pretty sure I won't try and improve the Insanity time because for once RNG gave me really good objectives (and it was my first run) and I really just wanted to complete it.
But I think I will go for time when trying the Hardcore challenge.

Thanks! Yeah those are both brutal devices! 5$ says I get them both on wave 10. Should be interesting to see the times for this run in general!

@ Max Dmian: Nice job. First run attempt, successful: I'm definitely making these too easy :P Looking forward to the vid. I've heard rumors of the DM-less build and that there are few people daring enough to try. :D I might have to check it out!

@FatherofPearl: Striker I. Boss.

I like that the insanity one ends up being a fun, a one time deal and then people go for time on the hardcore challenge. I'm sure there will be a significant time difference with the typhoon ^_^

Pretty sure I'd just bled out if I'd gotten Devices twice like Crimson Idol...

Well it's not that daring if you think about it.
I didn't want to rely on the Striker too much which makes weapon passives (which DM basically consists of) obsolete.
Without Cyclonics, I needed some kind of survivability which is why I went for the shield penalty evolution on HML.
And you can run faster and dodge :wizard:

First true insanity run after a trial last night: Yes this took 70 minutes!!! First 7 waves went real fast, even for me, only used 1 rocket for final 2 Banshees on 5. Waves 8 thru 10 took forever. Used 1 rocket for last 2 banshees on 8. Had 4 for targets which was real quick, but none for cleanup, ended up using 4 thermal clips for 1 banshee at cleanup!! This can be done quite fast with the typhoon, will try later.

Pizza>Targets>Targets
Incendiary IV
AR Rail Amp III
Cyclonic IV
Grenade Capacity V

No hawk missile launcher was the build I used.

Congrats kocka. I commend your focus! Hey, you're one of only 2 who have completed all challenges including insanity challenges so far! Good job!

@ max dmian: The logic is definitely sound, I think DM-less build will be a very different feel from what I'm used to with the destroyer (weapon focused). I'm looking forward to trying it out tonight though.

Yes sir, I blame my time on Eggsbox loading times!!:D

In retrospect I would have not taken DM also.  Being able to dodge Banshee warp balls would have been worth its wait in gold, plus HML would keep regen on her barriers down a bit (maybe).

I always killed the Banshees last since the Striker would do pitiful damage against them.
Turned HML off so they wouldn't raise their hands of denial, looked at the ground and grenaded the area around them.

You so smart Max, I may have another run at the Striker after all.

Got striker points and AR medals, during the game, which gave me AR Mastery for like the 10th time, so I may as well level it up again.

Let's call it learning from bad experiences...
So much work do to right now, but will try the Typhoon run later, sounds like fun.

Did the hardcore challenge with the Typhoon, cos I find it fun. Striker - meh. Could do it, but way too boring.

Anyway. First game I got ninja joined by a friend so had to quit. Second game got sync-killed by Banshee during devices on wave 10, cos I got stuck into cover.

Third game was mostly smooth, Escort, Pizza, Escort, but I fkn hate Ravagers on this map. Got health-gated so many times, but still didn't use ops packs most of the time, so 1 shot would health-gate me again after regening shields. Ravagers and Marauders are number 1 priority targets on this map.

I used the Hydra missiles build, but I think frags would've been more useful.

10 waves + <30min time? Nicely done! Can't wait to see some other runs from the PC Master Race™, looks like that's going to be a fairly close category.

Why you guys no dodge cancel out of Devastator Mode?? Also I found that unequipping and equipping Devastator Mode gives you back a bit of shield and eats some of the DOT.

I was going to try the Hardcore challenge... bbbuuttttt, I think I'll give Insanity another bash and try for under 40 minutes. I may switch the build though, to:

kalence.drupalgardens.com/me3-builder#28!1A03515!!53X513!0.99G

Swapping out Hydra Missles for Multi-Frags. The former's stagger was useful when I got caught off-guard (husks, cannibals), but honestly, the Striker stagger was more than enough. Plus, the amount I was visiting ammo boxes means that a 4 grenade powers evolution in Multi-Frag should be viable, and thus enables me to keep the Stronghold Package on (for 1.12 second shield regen, which WAS incredibly useful).
