Well you're doing better than I am. With a melee build, I just die left and right. Phantoms not really a problem, but all them trooper types burst-shooting from a distance... Also in a melee mood, I find it difficult to 1) remember to shoot; 2) remember to reload; 3) manage to reload-cancel when I really, really need to. It's like the krogan rage really gets to me, I get stupid and aggressive and I really wish I could record that stuff for y'all to laugh.

I've no problem mowing down enemies. I'm mostly having issues with prioritizing dragoons (cuz they can't wait their turn) and making sure I kill phantoms when I engage them. Getting in range and them still having barriers is my death sentence.
As far as the trouble you're having, close the distance and force them to use melee as well. I promise the Krogan wins

Do u use the barrier detonation evo too with barrier off most of the time and double tap for quick stagger ?

Yes, the Barrier detonation has enough force to stagger a Phantom if you take rank 5b of Barrier and rank 5a of krogan berserker. I think that you already know that Clyde, but the use of an ops pack can also nullify a Phantom sync-kill. I would even push that further and say that a good strategy could be to keep your ops for the last Phantoms waves, ie it could be better to sacrifice a medi-gel instead of an ops in the first waves.

edit : base force of 500N, so i guess you R right and speking from experience too, though that might be on plat (1000 N either way)
Now that i m here, i m pretty sure some power without 1000 N stagger gold/plat phantom, isnt it ?

Indeed kalence says (damage=force here) all u need is passive 5a and barrier 4a (i think that wld be my polyvalent build). I m unsure if barrier 5b give bonus to itself when detonated ? not in kalence

Yes, that's it, 4a of Barrier and 5a of krogan berserker (but 4a of krogan berserker isn't mandatory).
Ah there was a thread about that some weeks ago... I think it does for Barrier, but not for Tech Armor. Or maybe that's the opposite lol. Damn, I will see whether I can find again this topic when I have time.

Update: I tried a fee more times yesterday and had a lot of quality time with phantoms. And no, I hadn't been using the Barrier Detonation evo because I was hoarding the DR instead as well as skipping passives so I could use BEs and melee.
Now with money on the line (and a 9-9 work day) I think a respec may be in the works. I've 11 hrs to decide
