What is the most tricky of all the N7 challenges ? Is the medal requirement the most challenging part ?

IMO, the most difficult part is to get to the end. Many people, like myself, failed mostly on reaching wave 11 (N2 III or N3 III for example). Some maps are luck based, during objective waves.

Medals requirements aren´t a big problem at the earlier challenges. The only medal problems I had, was during N5 III and N7 I. Getting the 5 WS or 10 WS is a worse problem. You´re going to love it from N6 III on.

Most difficult challenges?

Puh! When I was in the earlier stages on my solo career I would say:

N6 III and N7 I

N7 II

N3 III

N7 III

N5 III and N5 II

Now I would say:

N7 I

N7 II 10WS against Geth

N5 III and N7 III.

^I think I'm going to use mainly the Mattock for Ash. 5 waves survived hmm... I will play ultra-cautiously the first 5 waves  :P !

It leaves 4 gold medals. It's a solo, so the 75 kills, 75 kills with an AR and the 20 headshots are guaranteed. Then I need to get the fourth with grabs, killstreaks, or waves survived...

I foresee controllers flying in the room and my level of consumables approaching 0.

Grabs are the easiest way for the 4th or 5th medal.

Finally, another console peasant to join me at the top.  (I have no faith in your constant retiring pres  :P )

As for the hardest challenges, I would say:

1) Ash

2) Ariake - a.k.a. "The Condor Marathon"

3) 183 Pull-ups.

Most of the others are quite enjoyable. Just prepare yourself for the occasional road block and you will be fine.  Many of them are easy enough that they can be done in one to a few tries.

Good luck!

Once you finish these, I highly recommend giving Blasteroid a go from the weekly challenges.

Thanks !

Yes I imagine that I will have to mobilize all my patience for Ariake. I also see Pull-ups complicated, using such an imprecise weapon (Revanant) on such a big map (Rio) is tricky. Plus, pizzas can be horrible for console peasants on this map.

you have never known consumable depletion until these challenges.  First world console problems

Hmm I don't know, I've done some plat solos with only 6 gels / ops...  and level 1 weapon amp or cyclonic.

I will try to be more patient for these challenges and take my time. I don't give myself a deadline or any time constraint.

N4.2 Morning War (Insanity)

Played more safely than I really had to and wave 10 wasn't pretty so no sub 30.
1 of the primes on wave 1 kindly disappeared and I assume he took half the geth bomber spawn with him cos I couldn't find any for some time.

I didn't know I was using not a full fitness build otherwise would've definitely corrected that.

A rusty Bjorn returns

Had a lot of fun with this one, but I am reminded how bad the FOV is every time I come back.

It should be easy for a veteran plat soloer like U :)

Well, i had consumable issue as well, but they were welcome. Breaks were welcome :D

Doable for sure but "easy" is probably a too strong word, as the waves survived can be screwed by a single little mistake and getting targets to eliminate several times could be problematic with the Mattock. I will consider myself very lucky if I get this challenge done at first attempt :) .

Gamepad triggers are far easier than mouse buttons. The mouse button uses muscles most of the way up your arm, hence the risk of RSI. Triggers are more natural and the non-involvement of muscles beyond the finger itself means that it's easier to fire repeatedly and rapidly.

Charge weapons and single shot or burst ARs cause far less muscle strain for console players.

I can't tell since I've never played a single game on PC except... Chicken Invaders  :D. According to what I've heard, aiming on PC is easier but for shooting I don't know. On consoles, for the Mattock and all non-automatic weapons, we need to push very repeatidly a button, I imagine it's the same on PC (without any macro).

Edit : Marksmad has already answered better than me.

Well gamepad controllers have gotten a lot better since the PS2....!

Aiming is quicker on PC - even I can score headshots with mouse aim most of the time. Rapid fie definitely is not as easy as with a trigger, unless, as you say, one uses a macro. But custom controllers will do that too.

Week 3: Merely the weapon (Epic)

A redo, with my favorite character.

Went pretty well, objectives were favorable. Had 2 gels going into w10 but had to use both gels while going for the second pizza. Was a bit nervous from there on, but made it through.

I can't say that I really favor gaming on consoles, it's more something which comes from habits. My first gaming experience a long time ago was when I received the NES for Christmas. Then I got the Super Nintendo, and the Playstations after that. Back in the 90's, computers were more expensive and I didn't have one at home. I got my first PC when I became a student and, at this time, I had already a long gaming experience with consoles behind me and playing on PC never really crossed my mind.

Now I could buy a good PC for gaming but so far I never found the motivation to learn how to play with a mouse and a keyboard. I also spend most of my days in front of a computer for my job so I'm not sure I want to do the same during my leisure time. But I'm aware that playing on PC would make my soloer-life easier, and could probably improve my performances.

OK, now you know everything about my gaming life. In the next episode, I will tell everything about my sexual life !

PC Gaming and console gaming are different, with a certain amount of overlap.

Console has the whole social aspect, you can have friends over and play 4-player split screen Black Ops 2 or Halo or Mario Kart, or you can play 5-player asymmetric games like Metroid Blast or Luigi's Mansion.

PC can have much higher frame rate and graphic quality, with better sound, but console gaming has a far lower price barrier. You cannot buy an adequate gaming PC for the price of a console, and you probably already have a TV, right?

Playing sitting cross legged on the sofa feels more relaxing than sitting at your desk over keyboard and mouse as well.

They're mostly different.

I assume yours is quite interesting, since you rarely play. Away again as we speak....

Not mine, I assure you. I have no time for such a meaningless exercise as sex.

I know it sounds weird, aren't gamers ugly guys and gals compensating their sexual frustrations by killing people in virtual worlds  ?

Anyway you're right, time to stop the off-topic stuff.
