After getting trolled by triple devices, things finally started going smooth only to get hairy at wave 10 with 4 targets and only 2 missiles. We did it (although we lost a lot of time), but at the end I was with 3 gels and 0 in all other consumables. Getting full extraction was a nail-biter, and my team mate deserves special thanks for keeping aware of our surroundings and bailing me out once or twice when I was downed by typical Derperus phantroll BS.

I'm kinda working on Neufchatel Tier 6 (GI Talon vs Geth on Glacier) on platinum and obviously I haven't managed it so far but right now I'm especially depressed because I just had the most awesome game (if I do say so myself) with triple escort and 9 waves survived in 20 something minutes - that ended in a banshee's hug on wave 10.

Muahmuah is only the third person ever to hit Platinum N7! Congratulations on the incredible feat in soloing! As AW_FC said, it seems N7 gold is too mainstream now and the pros are going Platinum N7 Awesome stuff muahmuah! Thank you for your dedication to the thread and for the incredible (and most definitely "Beast Mode" runs!) I'll also take this opportunity to post another Miranda picture!

- capn, AW_FC, technoTurian and Nightslasher have runs for this week's Fight For The Lost solo, with NightSlasher setting the record pace!

- AW_FC with the first ever submissions for In Your Heart Shall Burn (Insanity) and Arrhythmia (Insanity) for the weekly 2.0 solo series! He also submits an insanity run for VI Overlord! Great stuff!

- x3lander and muahmuah set the first insanity duo for week two of Fight for the Lost!

- Smehur and ex-Clusum with some very solid Tier 5 and 7 Insanity duos!

- TecnhoTurian posts the first insanity submission for Tier 7 with a sub-30 time to beat!

- Smehur with a very close, heartbreaking, attempt at Tier 6 Insanity, is being cheered on by the thread and a rather affectionate elephant!

- Also, Completion categories for the Fight For the Lost should be up at some point this week!

Is the platinum version harder than the gold version?

Yes, but the difference is not as big as it appears on first glance.

 

Platinum is definitely more frustrating and needs more patience. But since medal requirements are waived, some of the later challenges are not that big a step up from their gold counterparts. Plus, you can use Armored Compartments 

 

On some challenges, you're allowed to use better weapons, and weapons that reduce some frustration. Ash and Awaking the Eye of Wrath allow use of scorpion to counter phantoms, and Ariake allows use of CSMG instead of shuriken.

 

Barring 4-5 challenges, the difference between the difficulties is smaller than how it'd appear on paper.

 

*Obviously, none of this applies if you are not used to soloing platinum. In that case, platinum is a whole new beast.

Targets, Escort, Packages.  I got impatient at the end of Wave 9, which is where I wasted some ops and gels trying to force hammer time on a ramp.

Targets, Packages, Devices.  I didn't get any good missiles on Wave 8 or 9.  Also I noticed that the requirements say this:

"earn 5 waves survived and 4 personal medals," which would mean just getting any 4 old medals, but I assumed it meant gold medals and did it that way with 5 Grabs.

 

This should be all of the first series.  I don't know what to do next, I guess I could finish 2.0.

Capn is now one of the select few to have completed all original weekly solos including the 6 grueling bonus solos! It was also completed in style with the new record for Monster Mash (Insanity) among many others. As a cool down, he also set the record for Weapon Test from the Weeklies 2.0

 

Capn is one of the few soloists currently active in both the game and the themed challenge thread, who was here from the start of this thread and group! Thanks for your support and your great, and often insanity-difficulty (He is also one of only two outliers, after all) submissions!

Note: As per the Honorary titles guideline, if you were to either complete the Weekly 2.0 series, or all hardcore versions as well, you'd get the Honorary title of your choosing. Completing both of those reqs would net you the title Battlemaster (currently held only by AW_FC)
