Conditions: Mission Successful on Firebase Glacier vs Cerberus

- Hardcore (Gold): Earn 10 melee kills medal each (optional 25 for style points), 5 waves survived, excessive headbutting

 

Excessive headbutting was our favorite part of the mission.

 

Regarding the 5 Waves Survived, we had to try this one a few times before we could pull it off. Also the Melee Kills were hard to come by thanks to Drake hogging all of them as the KroGuard.

Conditions: Mission Successful on Firebase Reactor Hazard vs Collectors

- Hardcore (Gold): Earn a combined 150 weapon kills, Aria can't die.

 

Ugh. We tried this one several times. The first time, we failed to get enough medals to prove we had 150 weapon kills -- that gap between the 25 kill medal and the 50 kill medal is annoying. (One of the few good things about Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer is that it reports every kill.)

 

The second time, we breezed through the weapon kills (with medals for 75, 50, 50, and 25), but as Aria (Asari Justicar) I managed to die on the ramp up to extraction with 10 seconds left in the match. Stupid Praetorians and their stupid shield- and health-gate breaking buttlazors.

 

The third time, we eked out the weapon kills on Wave 10, when ctc91 ticked his up to 75. So as not to scare any one, during the match I didn't mention the two times I was health-gated by Scions and the other time I almost got sandwiched by Praetorians but managed to drop down a ladder in the nick of time. Wave 10 Devices on this (ultimately successful) match was nerve wracking -- I ran around avoiding everything while Brannigans 1ove kept getting knocked off the devices by Abominations and Scions -- so all I heard was a bunch of swearing on the microphone.

5 Wave Survived on Waves 1 through 5 is too easy so we decided to make this a real challenge by surviving Waves 3 through 7, totally on purpose.

So yeah, ctc91 rocked the house while Brannigan and I tagged along. Blowing Phantoms off the map with the Venom was fun, but being afraid to use our powers (for fear of killing with something other than our weapons) was not as much fun.

Once again I managed to die in the extract circle.... *sigh*

Requiring a ton of sniper kills on ShakyMap (Giant Hazard) -- that's evil!

 

On our first attempt, I was the BatSol with Kishock off-host, and couldn't get the 20 Headshots necessary. Plus the entire team didn't make it to 200 Sniper Rifle kills.

 

The above time, which isn't great, was our second attempt. Brannigan took the BatSol/Kishock as host and was able to get the 20 HS. (Of course ctc already had his 20 HS on Wave 2 and 75 SR Kills on Wave 5 or something ridiculous like that.) The rest of us we were running out of waves to get our Sniper Rifle medals... I had seen the normal 75 Kills medal come up for myself, so I knew I had to be close... finally on Wave 10 (!) I managed to snipe enough random crap to get the 75 SR Kills medal.

 

We did have to stall on the objective waves which were Hack (3), Targets (6), and Escort (10). The Escort was annoying as the enemies kept spawning in front of us, but eventually we cleared the path down the ramp to the bottom of the map and then hung out in RHA sniping crap for a while. All the stalling led to our mediocre time, but at least we got this challenge done.

This is probably the most embarrassing solo ever, but I'm proud of myself so I'm gonna post it.  Easily good for last place, but I was a wreck in this game and I managed to clutch it out, if you can even call it that.  There are few things in life that can make my heart pump the way it did during the final 2-3 minutes of this game, and it's moments like that I game for.  Full wave-by-wave description in the YouTube comments.  Not very flashy, not very fast, but got it done.  Bam.

I'm no solo specialist like so many others here and I didn't watch all of it now (lollunchbreak only 30mins) but my thoughts on your vid:

 

- sometimes your positioning is not that good. You seem to use the hipster style left hand advantage quite often

- maybe watch some of the gold solo speedrun vids for the usual RHA spot in the glacier basement

- I would start the attack more often with warp. It staggers and debuffs, so helps with aiming. You seemed to use it mostly for detonation or for atlases.

 

I'm sure there are some more hints to give, but I'm a way to scrubby soloist for that. And I do most of the mistakes just the same way.

 

This is where I lol'ed a bit:

I think franck has the main points, and i only watch your all krogan team run, where those were allready present , (says the 30' scrub).

I ll just add, you should warp at the end of the magazine when possible to get a free reload (i m not able to do it well either)

Ain't nothing embarrassing about a successful run, everyone makes mistakes and there aren't any good ways to die. You pulled it off, that's what counts!
 
A couple things that might make it easier for you in future solos:
 
What Frank said about right-hand-advantage. (And in general, watching videos of other people doing solos can be immensely helpful; just browse the HoF and see some runs with good times, usually these will be the ones you can learn the most from.)
 
You can shoot stuff through some walls and cover with the Crusader even if you don't equip AP ammo. (Related to that, it wouldn't hurt to show your loadout and/or build at the beginning of the video, or mention it among your comments.)
 
Nuking spawns can be tricky and isn't always worth the risk on gold. I find it best to save missiles for double bosses and/or emergencies.
 
And if I'm to nitpick, you missed several beautiful opportunities for over-cover grabs on early waves.
 
But overall: well done!

I watched ~10 mins at random spots.

 

1. Crusader can be weight glitched. So, HVB+clip sie or HVB+shredder might be a better option.

2. On wave 4 and 7, I noticed you warped a phantom for BE when a dragoon is near by. I know you know this but dragoons are better for BEs b/c they don't dodge. I can understand that in the heat of moment, it's difficult to pick the right target but goons can be dodged fairly easily (for the most part) and a resulting BE from that might be better from a broader perspective.

3. On later waves (wave 9), enemy prioritization is key. You seemed to focus on phantoms on wave 9 instead of engineers or guardians (much easier to deal with, esp with that setup). Then again I only saw parts of the video and may be this was a one-off instance.

4. Finally - did you consider drill rounds? Scanner + double piercing + drill rounds is nasty on crusader. And vs. Cerberus with that set-up, I am not entirely convinced by the benefits warp ammo is.

 

Congrats on making it through. I noticed that you were out of ops and gels in wave 9. The last two waves must've been tense!

A bit of a strange story here. All my previous attempts were with incendiary ammo, because it seemed the DoT helped stop the banshees sooner than any other ammo type. But I'm running out, so I thought I'd try AP instead, with the heavy barrel and power magnifier on the weapon. Gave up that run after eating 3 gels in the first 3 waves, then decided to try warp ammo, since I was experimenting. And as soon as the map loaded I went d'oh! because I forgot to put back the piercing mod. Didn't think the game would go far, especially after a couple stupid deaths on early waves. But somehow I had 20 HS after w6 (those of you who know me will be in awe just like I am), then 3 WS after w7 and some rather competent nuking on w8 - and voila!

 

Anyhow, this was my final Neufchatel run and I believe I'm in for some well-deserved cheese.
