My last game:

N2.III Legendary

 

I have finally manged to figure this solo out, for the most part. I have found the build and weapons that work the best for me, I've learned to move better and to continuously check for nasty surprises. Everything goes well, I manage the first objective, I'm a bit vexed cause I have to use an ops-pack, but hey, it's better than a medi-gel. Wave 4 goes by without dying as well. Geth Hunter, Brute and Prime's Drone/Siege Pulse stagger fest cannot stop me. Wave 5 goes without a hitch, except for one more ops-pack used, but hey, double Huinter/Pyro with double Banhsee/Ravager is no walk in the park on Rio. Wave 6 is pizza and with some twitch reaction I clear it without problems. 5 WS, lots of consumables, excellent! I die once on wave 7 but manage the rest of it with insane grenade spam, all the sneaky ambush turrets were obliterated.

 

I enter wave 8 with 6354 and I'm thinking to myself - finally, I'll take it, 3 rockets on wave 8, platy catch me if you can while I pummel you with grenades on wave 9 and keep it cool on wave 10 with 3 rockets in reserve in case I get targets. I ready my missile for my first nuke, spawn is near but I still have to reposition a bit. The phantoms in the middle of the spawn run away and my nuke hits only two Banshees, missing the phantoms and the Atlas; immediately thereafter phantom double troll downs me. No matter, I go on, I manage to catch 2 Banshees and 2 phantoms with a rocket and also bring the Atlas down to armor. My nade spam fails to kill it, cause I'm getting swarmed and I need to bug out. The Atlas decides to climb on top of the crates and has a clear line of sight to almost half of the closed half of the Rio map, twerking as intended, Biovar plox.... In the meantime, there's Marauders and phantoms galore. I get away from the Atlas' fire line and kill some Marauders, the next one spawns 2 feet to my left and to the back, elbow of death, Phaeston burst and a phantom pew-pew downs me. I get up, run away and decide to go clear the Atlas. Phantoms and Marauders are waiting in ambush, while the Banshees are pushing me out. I switch directions, spam some nades, kill some Marauders and phantoms. Whaddya know, they spawn right next to me again. I switch directions again, go to the Atlas again where a warp ball from one of the Banshees makes a U-turn twice, hits me, the Atlas and a phantom pew-pew downs me, I get up and a Marauder shoves me into the lovely embrace of the other Banshee...

 

 

 

That's it, I'm f*cking done.

I hear you, mate. That dark place where you are now? I visit it on a regular basis with each platinum solo I undertake.

 

You know what I do when I start getting 5 WS then wipe on later waves? Put on inferior equipment, restartfromwave X (6 with Cerberus, 7 with Collectors), and once that starts feeling 'normal', try a fully geared proper game again - by which time it'll almost seem easy.

I Think that's part of Platinum soloing for all of us, there are times when you just want to be done with it for good due to all the glitches and BS the games throws on you. Then I give it a break for a few days and come back again. Just now I had a perfect GT run where the timer was at 24 min when I reached wave 10, ofc the game throws targets on me - game over and rage quit for today, but I'll try it again in a few Days when I'm not as frustrated with it as now.

The point where you stop enjoying a GAME is where you should stop torturing yourself with it. Then revisit it a few days/months later, it will not be nearly as rage-inducing as now.

well, i thought i was the only one losing it .  Well i guess u didnt even lost your nerve cause of pressure but cause of trolling, so it s still a impressive achievment to reach W10 on this ****** nightmare challenge.

Despite being a used to fails and laughing at some of them on solo, those ones where u struggle a lot and come close are still really painfull , I guess it means I/we care (too much) for the challenge.

 

I had to try Hamzat training quite a few times before even hoping to finish it. So while I was aiming for sub 20 and suck at cain mining my way,  25 smtg will do :

Hazmat or Hamzat training on gold

That extraction wave (galcier hazard cerb) was as fun as usual. I had the usual perfect choke point but had to retreat half way cause of the bees... then the usual clusterfuck of phantom, goons spawning everywhere. Even my last gel was not very securing. I think every units was converging on me(like 2-5 m away) at the 3s mark in the EZ, and i was health gated or i think i was:). So pretty happy the last hits were just after the count down .

 

I think i did all omega challenges, but some of them on plat...

I bit it on wave 8 on this particular attempt; me talking about wave 9 and 10 was just what was going through my head and the plans that I had. I've reached wave 10 on other occasions but there were some objectives which I didn't handle well, there were some troll objectives like devices in the center of the map and there were times when I simply didn't have enough consumables left. Wave 10 on this map is ... interesting... with 2 Primes 2 Banshees 2 Phantoms and 2 Ravagers.

 

The game before that last one, I had center hack on wave 10 that I failed to glitch and I wiped with 14 seconds to go and the tiniest sliver of the hack unfinished. Cause Primes and Ravagers are f*cking campers.

concussive arrow are really good for dealing with phantoms / goons and NEMESIS. I m not sure why sometimes phantoms ignore them, but well, it s phantoms afterall.

i went radius and damage i think and suprisingly, power amp IV, as i have almost no cyclo IV left, and they should be reserved for plat solos

that wld be it, but i m pretty sure i had 13 (or maybe 10) nades in game, no idea why it s 11 here

@ x3lander: That challenge almost made me quit the game... on gold. So yeah, I'm impressed by anyone who dares to even attempt it on Legendary. Also, keep in mind that it has only been completed a total of 4 times ever, at that difficulty, and that each of those successful runs took over 1hr. Just a bit of perspective on how difficult that challenge really is. As one of the elite soloists in this thread though, I have no doubt you'll complete the challenge. However, sometimes a breather is the best thing! I myself tend to retire and then unretire multiple times as a solution.

Don't surrender man.You can do it.You will do it.I have played many many games with you and i think that you are skilled enough  to beat it.You just need more confidence in your own skills.That challenge is one of the most difficult challenges not only in N7 series but in the all thread.
