I went with AP for sheer damage, plus it helps with some cover penetration (phantoms, nemeses, guardians). I also put the stab mod on the hurricane, no way I am spending 50 minutes trying to control it without it :P

For your consideration, Frank:

Troll drone is useful for phantoms, Atlases, mobs and choke points.

suicide drone works well and significantly better at each rank 4-5-6. AP or drill are quite good to keep chaining level 12 combos. Drill is better if u make phantoms bubble with inci, but why wld u do that ?

Stability mod wasnt my pick cause i went faster on weapon kills than power ones

This challenge seems to inspire lots of discussion :) it is very interesting to see how different people tackled it, and there does seem to be a lot of variation in how different players went after it.

Some more thoughts from a scrub who just scraped by and finished it :P:

I took the drone to 6, and you are right Alfonsedode, I didn't want phantoms to bubble up, I wanted them to dance around it while I overloaded and hurricane'd them.

I took the stability mod because getting to full extraction without the 20 headshot medal would have been very bad for my health :P since earlier attempts had shown me that weapon kills are far easier to get, I was careful in the early waves to mix as many tech kills in as possible; while it is faster to just shoot mooks, not having to worry about which kind of kill is still necessary in the late waves frees you of a lot of stress.

Getting that shield recharge evo in fitness might be worth it though - mobility is key in such a small place, and having to wait a bit less for your shield gate can make the difference between victory and wipe. I just got lucky with enemies' movement on the map this time.

And once you complete this, you can give Cerberus the greatest insult an enemy can suffer: to be ignored forevermore  :D

Just a small explanation of my build:

Since I'm a scrub with severe awareness deficiencies, I tend to prefer full fitness builds. Most of my kits that have less than 5 levels in Fitness are Infiltrators or have Tech Armor/Barrier. Also, given the prevalence of hitscan weapons among Derpshit, I found myself often playing on shield-gate, which is why faster recharge is essential for me.

The other thing is, I stop at lvl 5 Drone, because Chain Attack is another attack mode which competes with Shock and does not stagger as reliably. Besides, Chain Overload and the ensuing tech combos cover that particular CC functionality. I also get the spare points to drop into Fitness and Alliance training for best cooldowns and shield recharge.

well i m just rediscovering default shield recharge time is 4s, thought it was 3 like shieldgate CD :). Anyway, your awarness problem comes form no crutchscanner :D, wait, what, u put the scanner on ?!? :D

i havent paid attention to the fact that the chain attack is not the shock one enhanced to hit 3 more guys :D, but like HamleticTortoise, i experienced better survivability with the level 6 drone (and 3 in fitness) and some nice TB/FE with 3-5 trooper around it.

No GS was for my purist gold run. I fully intend to take it on Plat. That, or AC, but I think GS is better on Glacier. Besides, when you start soloing on f*cking Hydra, you understand there is more to awareness than seeing what's behind the walls in the 20 meters before you. The extra Fitness lets me survive the minor mistakes I make.

Compared to what? Lvl 6 vs lvl 5 drone?

yep, i think i tried all levels from 4 to 6 (for the drone) (and exchanging those points with fitness) , but level 5 was my starting choice

Fair enough. My own experience differs, but then again, different folks, different strokes.

N7 Challenges (Hardcore)

N3.2

31:31 - XAN1_95 (278 554 pts)

Pizza / Hack / Pizza

Shameless w11 nuking to get my 3rd killstreak because of the medal requirements.

N3.3

43:26 - XAN1_95 (289 312 pts)

Targets / Targets / Devices

At the end of wave 9: 9 waves survived, 6 gels, 2 ops packs and 4 missiles left. Wave 10 begins: devices. The first device was one of the "ragequit" ones, opposite side of the middle ammo box on top of the cover. The enemies spawned nearby on both sides. Rage nuked everything and barely finished the device before fantums dropped me. The rest of the devices were in okay position. After finishing the last of them, I had 0 missiles (which means no cleanup missile), 0 ops packs and 2 medigels. GJ biovar on balancing the objectives. I have got so many 10ws solos screwed up in the N7 series that I stopped caring and just say "whatever" when I screw up another one.

Something positive for the end of the post (Lift grenade spamming ):

Only 2 seconds slower than our 5WS-less run. And we had devices on wave 10, which means this is the run where we played the best.

5.3 - The Intangible is Unstoppable

27:29 - DJ39H (233 787pts)

Devices x Escort x Pizza

Goddess has to be the most annoying map to play for me. I think I even prefer Dagger Hazard. Not that I'm volunteering to go and do a dagger hazard solo.

Solo series 2.0 hardcore

Week 13 - Blue Shift

41:04 HamleticTortoise (310 592pts)

could have been 10WS, but I went down like a pro on wave 1 when charge didn't work  Twice targets, managed to switch both times for a change. I cooked plenty of toasters in the reactor too, that felt good.

Week 14 - Explosives Are A Woman's Best Friends

53:29 HamleticTortoise (255 903 pts)

Demolisher  I specced out of homing grenades, and while that certainly increased the time to completion, I just prefer this build. I will go back to this again however, simply because I went in with a pistol amp equipped thinking I'd use the arc pistol; then I tried the Typhoon on wave 1 just for giggles, and fell in love with it; completed the challenge without a weapon amp  :pinched: This wasn't easy, but after N2.3, it certainly felt satisfying :P

Week 15 - Survive

58:33 HamleticTortoise (265 741pts)

I had a much better time on an earlier run, which ended with a banshee grab. Played very carefully after that, and double banshees waves just take too long to play safe  the krentinel is such a jack-of-all-trades, I wanted to see how many different medals I could get, so I am pretty pleased with that. The wraith is a beast on him, but I confess I did miss the Graal ;)

On a roll (and not feeling like pugging)

Solo series 2.0

Week 16 - Pinnacle Station

55:31 HamleticTortoise (204 391pts)

My usual strategy with collectors is to drain the budget with abominations, and stay away from bosses. Predictably, I find wave 8 to be the most difficult. This time, I even got out of focus during that wave, just jogging around the map and spamming the recon mine; didn't do my completion time any favours. Tried to go for 10WS, died on wave 9 for the first time :) the engineer used to be my favourite volus for a long time, but now I prefer the faster cooldowns of its three cousins

Week 17 - Weapon Test

36:34 HamleticTortoise (245 376pts)

Any sub-40 run counts as speedrunning for me :D this one was sweet revenge for N4.II and N6.III, and thus very enjoyable. Both primes got stuck on the EZ on wave 5, that cost me a lot of time, I wanted to drain the rest of the wave before taking them on, but toasters took a looooooong time to come find me - not that I am complaining :P

Week 18 - Mordus Revolutions

45:03 HamleticTortoise (245 975pts)

Finally got a decent run with the Venom  This setup is really effective vs Cerberus, though I really wish Atlases weren't such time-wasting bullet sponges. I generally don't like pugging on Vancouver, but it's quickly becoming one of my favourite maps to solo: good size, good cover, relatively objective-friendly, good opportunities to kite.

Hopefully not :D

I have fallen a bit out of love with pugging lately; coming back to this thread, and discover I have gotten to the point where finishing a solo doesn't feel like a miracle anymore, has been great! The N7 series has honed my skills (and almost crushed my... spirit ), and since I wanted something a bit easier to do while attempting the latest challenges there, I found the solo series 2 to be right up my alley. It's hard, but with very few requirements, and most challenges offer good kits/loadouts. It has taken me very few attempts for most challenges. Admittedly, the ones that are left look very difficult for me, so I might branch out soon :P

N6.1 - Archangel

34:14 - DJ39H (273 200pts)

Hack x Targets x Devices

Wave 10 took nearly the full five minutes to get the objective done just because the devices were all clustered so close together. Devices are dumb.

Weekly Solos 2.0 Week 1 (redo)

17:45 - DJ39H (285 098pts)

Object Retrieval x Hack x Hack

I'm not big into the whole speed-running thing and normally don't bother spawn-nuking, but redoing this one was a nice way to vent frustration.

The Servant of the People - solo challenges

III. I Am Legion - Part 2

55:35 HamleticTortoise (199 338pts)

Just flat-out terrible shooting on my part. At one point, I shot and missed 10 times the same abomination. I somehow managed to miss a crab 4 times in a row

IV. The Venom AI

38:40 HamleticTortoise (243 096pts)

What's that? Glacier/Cerberus solo, and 5WS? Sure, count me in  This one felt, well not easy, but bearable so shortly after N7.I  :P

And with this, I have finally completed the solo challenges of the Servant of the People series! ^_^
