However, I hope we don't get a circle mage origin. We already had it in DA:O, after all.

I wouldn't mind a circle mage origin, since it would most likely be more of a 'rebel mage' / 'apostate' origin, which would be interesting to see (as in, how Anders' actions impacted the regular circle mages, what the final days of the circle institutions were like, what happened right before / after etc.) but I am kinda hoping for a Tevinter magister / apprentice origin, or at least a companion -- an insight into the Tevinter magocracy would be terribly interesting.
OT: I like this theory! I agree it is probably about the PC / companions, but they might represent the different factions as well. I wonder, if they represent factions, could the red ring represent the Qunari (Ben-Hassrath)? It looks a bit like the red gem in the Heart of the Many amulet Tallis gives you. Also the script in the setting looks odd...

1. Mage
-Former Circle Mage
-Tevinter Magister
-Apostate
2. Warrior
-Templar
-Warden
-Chevalier
3. Rogue
-Bard
-Pirate
-something, something, something
But there are too much variations. I am interested in the Tevinter ring and the Seeker ring though.

About the circle mage background, I think it's likely to happen, but it'll be different from DAO, where you were talented apparentice/new mage. In DAI I guess the mage should be at least an Enchanter, if not a Senior Enchanter.

The leaked survey suggested a magister companion.

Yeah. It wouldn't make sense for a newbie to lead a very old Order...unless of course, every known member dies and thus, the PC is the leader by default.
I'm wondering how our PC would join the Order. I hope that it will be because of experience and not by chance. If the rings do represent a Seeker, Tevinter, Circle, or Templar origin then our PC had to be at least high in the hierarchy and not a recruit or apprentice. It would make things a lot more interesting and fresh.

I think that the Inquisition will be found either during the first hours of the game (meaning the PC might be one of its founders) or a before the game, but decently. The Inquisition will be a 'new' organization, since templars and seekers don't seem to have changed their names, and Bioware said that the player wouldn't be forced in a religious organization.
Regardless, the PC to lead it should have experience. And having all the other members dying to make him the leader would be stupid and boring (something similar happened in DAO).

I sympathize more to the idea it represents the factions that we will have to deal with, rather than being origin backgrounds.
And i would love if that guy is the antagonist or one of the agents of chaos they speak of, and each ring represents the factions that they manage to corrupt and lead then to war.
Also love to see the PC origins given great influence in gameplay like being easier to get help from one faction and harder from another one, and even changing the companion you start with!
About the glowing ring, i don't know what it is.
BUT, the i can see why people confuse the Seekers and the Inquisitor symbols.
To me, the Inquisitor symbol is nothing but a mix of Seekers (red arrow>the Sun and the eye), Templars (blue arrow>the sword) and the Circle symbols (yellow arrow>the eye made more thicker and round in the middle), the red dot (not on this imagem, but in the T-shirt) could represent the Inquisition acting on them.

Probably just a faction they don't want us to know yet.

It'd be awesome to have a character whose origin is from Tevinter.

The leaked survey indicated that the game may start with a peace conference being attacked and your PC surviving when most of the others died; if I remember right. Now if the rings are backgrounds then it may be that you are the squire, understudy, or page or whatever of your factions leader. Kind of how Jon Snow is the Lord Commanders squire, so he could be groomed for command (if you know anything about Game of Thrones). This means it would make since for you to take over, and it seems from the survey that we have at least one person from each faction anyway, meaning that those people (Cullen, the Warden, a Magistrate, Cassander, and maybe Rhys also survive and become the leaders of their faction if they aren't already or if you start in their faction they are your second in command) and we get the others in the party if we recruit them, or we have to kill them to get their armies or at least remove the opposition... just an idea that I had off the top of my head.

Yeah, I think you're right. Makes since why its the most eye catching. And their symbol had/has a red eye at its center.Tinxa wrote...
I think the red ring is the Inquisition ring. It's glowy and seems the most important so maybe it's a symbol of the Inquisitor.

Also, good thoughts they could be backgrounds or factions (spoilers) it makes sense. The Templars and Seeker are at war with all Mages, and the Grand Enchanter of the Circle is a Gray Warden. But, the main character looked like he or she was coming from the Western Approach meaning he or she is a survivor of the events that happen there in Asunder.
