I believe it was recently stated in a video that there are missions on unexplored planets that "only Shepard can do." Does this mean that we won't be able to bring any allies with us, or just that they're special missions for Shepard and his team and not some other marine unit?
N7 Missions-Shep only?

I can't see them being solo missions. I assume it means Shepard and his team rather than random marines.

It's 'only Shepad' the same way the suicide mission can be 'only Shepard'. It means his ship, his resources, his skills, his team, his leadership.

No they are not "Shep only" missions, the entire squad goes down with him. He's merely pointing out that it's not something you can accomplish from orbit.
