Exactly. As a publicly-traded company we are obligated to only give publicly available release dates. As I said earlier, until the public date changes we will always be "on track" for release. If that seems disingenuous, my advice would be to not ask for comments on release dates. There is only one answer we are permitted to provide.
I used to work for a very popular theater (as in plays, musicals, concerts, etc). Every now and then, a show might be rescheduled, or perhaps possible extreme weather would result in refunds for those who couldn't attend. When this would happen, we'd often receive word before official announcements were made. And often, there would be customers that contacted us during that time before anything official was released. All we could say at that time was that the show was still going ahead as scheduled. That's it. We couldn't say "It looks like that might change. We'll get back to you." We couldn't say "You might be able to get a refund. Check back in a couple days." We're bound to reiterating whatever the official policy is at that point.
It's very easy, looking in from the outside, to say "Oh, come on, you can at least tell us something, or let us know things have changed," but it really isn't that simple. Often the official policy and/or announcement is still being worked out, and releasing information before that (aside from being a big no-no as employees of that company) only results in more questions. Questions that we can't answer, in part because the answers themselves are still in flux.
Yes, this means that there are sometimes angry customers who call back a couple days later and say "I was told this before, but now I'm finding out this!" Trust me, it isn't a position that we particularly enjoy being in. But, to say it again, we're obligated (in a very real sense) to stick to what's official, until what's official changes. And then we stick to that. :-)

I'm wondering if more people aren't so much upset that it got delayed as that it got delayed by an entire year. Even if that means a year more development time, that's still quite a shock
You'd think they want game to not end up like DA2

Eh, you'd think. But if it was announsed it was going to be delayed until early 2014, I doubt there'd have been much surprise.

I'm glad it's getting the development time it needs, unless a certain game

Part of it is that people like Gaider, Allan and Laidlaw actively denied that the game was coming later than Fall 2013 when all they had to say was nothing.

Technically, it was still in-game.

I thought it was a teaser trailer, and did just that- tease.
Exactly, what is hard to grasp here? It teased more than most teasers in recent years usually do.

But that's not gameplay. Gameplay is gameplay. The Star Wars Battlefront teaser was also supposedly in-game but it obviously wasn't gameplay.

The individual walked, that is a form of gameplay.

People were expecting a substantive reveal since that's what BioWare had said they were doing. We heard from Laidlaw and several others that the reveal would be "substantial" and "leave no room for questions." They were also insisting as recently as 3 weeks ago that the game was coming out this Fall so people understandably expected a big, informative reveal. Just saying "We delayed the game by an entire year, you're welcome" doesn't make that pent up anticipation go away. We've been waiting for a reveal for 10 months. This reveal was not substantial or substantive and it certainly left room for questions.

That's completely nonsensical. No one was controlling anything. It was a pre-rendered trailer made in-engine. There was no gameplay.

i thought it was clear it was gameplay because my it was dialogue scene between you and morrigan kinda like the dialogue between hawk and flemeth about jumping of cliff
That was just Morrigan speaking. There was no one else speaking. And the trailer was full of dynamic camera angles and such. It wasn't gameplay, just a pre-rendered trailer using the Frostbite 3 engine.

And what exactly did you expect from a teaser? A teaser leaves what exactly? Questions. Take whatever they say with a grain of salt and don't over expect much. This reveal did exactly what it was supposed to do, tease.
