There is another year they will most likely to release gameplay around halfway through 2014 we might get another trailer if we are lucky around the end of the year

Maybe they originally planned to make that "leaves no room for questions" reveal at the E3, back in the time when a 2013 release was still a possible target. But they realized delaying it will increase the quality and thus showing actual gameplay doesn't fit with the marketing plans. Presenting gameplay at the first reveal isn't that uncommon, but with the game's target release being over a year away, they decided it would be way too early to keep the interest high for over a year.

But to give a living sign so to speak they decided to do a in-engine non-gameplay trailer for E3.

That's at least my theory.

I wouldn't want to see gameplay so far out from release, given that its bound to change A LOT from now till then.

I'd like to see gameplay at around the beginning of next year though.

Perhaps if we see it and there's an overlying sentiment(too fast, too slow, too much combat rolling) they can make changes.

But THIS early? Too early.

I'd assume its because the game is still a long way from release mainly. The very earliest we may get a gameplay trailer is at the VGA's in December IMO. So a bit of a wait, but not as long as previously.

Pretty sure this has always been the strategy for BioWare, even with Origins. Gameplay will only show up when we get closer to the release date. It is after all subject to change I'm sure.

They should push it even further back than that if you ask me. I reckon it's a good idea to show gameplay if and only if your gameplay is new or original or exciting or interesting. Considering these are the devs with the legacy of *push button something awesome happens xd* I think it's safe to assume that the gameplay will have nothing worth showing, thus showing gameplay is the wrong idea and they should stick with these non-gameplay movies until as late as possible.

Really i thought bioware was known for having awful gameplay but great stories

Baldur gate party-based RPG gameplay and DA2 party-based RPG gameplay vary a bit, don't you think? Not to mention citadel ME3 party-based party.

SWTOR trailer showing Darth Revan and Malak storming the Jedi Temple, the Sith and jedi having awesome lightsaber dueling, the bounty hunter doing their thing.....

The game isn't like that at all and the story is totally not about that....

That wasn't Malak or Revan and of course its not about that because the attack on the Jedi Temple has already happened in the games setting.

Those were also CGI and not in game assets shown in engine.

This trailer was created as a giant cutscene with the engine and the game tools rather than some of the other CGI trailers they got blur to make. Which to me is a good thing. This is how the game will look at least in regards to cutscenes in the game.

Weren't there like fifty dudes with Revan styles masks? And that was not Malak, that was Darth Malgus. Malak's dead.

It is all EA. Same marketing people. All those games (except Mirror with unknown date) will be released in 2014. All are first trailers. he only game that was actually supposed to be released in 2013 shows less actual game stuff then the others.

Eh, it hasn't "supposed to be released" this year, for us, for a little while now. There's complications as being a part of a publicly traded company to announce changes in release dates. If I make an off the cuff remark about the release date being moved back on BSN, there's actually a degree of personal risk I take because organizations are very careful about making sure information is appropriately disseminated in a fair and proper channel. So it's not like we woke up on June 1st and went "sweet, date pushed back!"

We could have shown some gameplay, but it's undoubtedly going to continue to change, but at this point it's also marketing. The teaser is just a teaser as the start of generating some buzz beyond places like BSN.

And if they show something now but change it on release (as often happens in video game development) they will be accused of lying and such. Besides, the game isin't due for a year and a half at best. I'd be worried if it was 4-5 months to go and we hadn't yet seen any gameplay yet.
