releasing DA3 in fall 2014 is not a smart idea and I am not complaining about the long wait

People have different tastes, and I am sure that many people will end up getting both games.

yes but you want less competition and some will get DA3 over the witcher and some will get the witcher over DA3. you want to maximize your sales competing with someone else doesn't help thatsandalisthemaker wrote...
Personally, I don't give a flaming crap about the Witcher. It's not like *everyone* will flock to the Witcher and be so engrossed in it that they will forget about DA:I.

If EA are serious about rehabilitating their reputation (which they keep talking about), and if DA 3 can compete with The Witcher 3 then releasing them side-by-side may be a good plan. Most people expect Witcher 3 to be good and most people have a positive view of CDProjekt, so if EA/Bioware can release a product that is as good then it will get them much more positive attention because they will have that immediate comparison.
Of course if it isn't as good then you are right that it could be a problem.

It may end up being winter 2014. We don't know.

Finally ! Thanks for saying that, I don't know why people tend to think that if you like DA you like the Witcher.

I'll buy both when they are in the bargain bin for $5.

might be an RPG but they are diiferent style.
Even rival like MW3 and BF3 not released in the same month, publisher know better than that.
The only thing that TW3 and DAI are competitor is GOTY, which both probably not gonna
get it since we didn't know what Bethesda planning yet.

I mean, no offense to CD Project Red, but the video shown at E3 was decent at best. And I am not talking about quality of the trailer, but rather the gameplay/graphical bits they showed.

Bioware should be wary of a game with better writing and beter characters since that is supposed to be Biowares strength.bigbad1013 wrote...
This whole Dragon Age vs. The Witcher thing is just silly. Yes, the first two Witcher games were good games (and I own both of them) but they're not THAT good and they are certainly not something that BioWare should be "afraid" of.

How can something look awful when we know very little about it?imbs wrote...
I'll probably play neither. Geralt or whatever his name is a pretty awful mc who I would be too irritated to play through with. Gameplay doesn't look interesting enough to overcome my distaste for the mc. DAI looks pretty awful in general so far so I probably won't buy that either. Don't get me wrong I'd like it to look/be as good as DA:O was but it almost certainly won't be.
