releasing DA3 in fall 2014 is not a smart idea and I am not complaining about the long wait

As far as I'm concerned, Dragon Age 3's competition will largely be determined by when in 2014 Project Eternity gets released.

Isn´t that PC only?

I remember a time, before 2011, when in the contest between CDPR and Bioware the hands down answer was always Bioware. Yes, Mass Effect 2 had been divested of most (if not nearly all) of its cRPG elements in favor of a more "action-oriented" adventure, but that was a time when we had Dragon Age II to look forward to and the promise that ME3 would bring back some of the RPG elements we loved.

And then in 2011 Dragon Age II was soundly beaten into the ground by TW2, and SWTOR was launched with much fanfare...

...and had crashed into the ground with such an impact that it made EA itself stagger under the shockwaves.

Then Mass Effect 3 came out and the ending debacle furthered the spiral.

I will be purchasing The Witcher 3 with no questions asked.

I trust CDPR to produce a quality game that respects both its fans and its genre.

Bioware? Well every new update in SWTOR brings me that much closer to abandoning this company fully. The decisions, few as they are, that we know of about DAIII give me pause.

It should be noted that, while longer in development, Dragon Age III could only muster a cinematic teaser trailer while the Witcher gave us both a teaser and real game-play footage. In fact multiple scenes of game-play footage.

I was once a Bioware fan...back in 2009.

Now they are just another company that needs to prove itself and in a year when CDPR and Bioware are both vying for me as a customer I will be purchasing TW3 on the day it launches...

...and DAIII the next time there is an Amazon Sale on digital downloads that include its Day 1 DLC package for $8.99.

That is how I finally got ME3 and that is how I plan on getting DAIII.

This thread's original post would be so much more comprehensible with capitalisation, punctuation, grammar, sentences, paragraphs and a logical flow of ideas.

It had the advantage over yours of actually communicating something useful however; so whereas the OP communicated something in broken grammar you managed to contribute nothing with proper grammar.

Congratulations, I guess? Image IPB

The Witcher 3's release date is nowhere near Fall 2014. I still don't really understand what this thread is even about.

The old "DA vs. TW" thing I guess. Where it isn't allowed for a RPG player to buy and play both games. That you have to pick a side and ditch the other.

^ Yeah, I think it's a false contest - and really unhelpful.

These sort of threads are either worried that DAI won't be able to compete and will fail miserably, or gloat at the comparison. Neither is really that constructive, for a forum about Dragon Age discussion. EA employs ludicrously overpaid people to worry about sales figures, I don't see how a fan can argue one way or the other without access to the sort of information that companies have. At any rate, the Powers that Be would have certainly already noticed that they're launching after The Witcher. I don't think they need to be told that.

How can something look awful when we know very little about it?

the trailer had awful aesthetics, graphics and did not do a good job of staying consistent to orignal morrigan. The dev team are taking significant parts of the DA2 combat/game in general and using it to, at the very least, inspire DA3. The dev team are responsible for DA2. EA ie day 1 DLC, ****ty 30 minute DLCs, possible rushed deadlines, micro transactions in the pvp. Voice acted MC, no origins/race choices. Mass effect 3.

Those are reason enough to lean on the side of pessimism if you ask me.

Well, yes.  But that's why I said "as far as I'm concerned" Image IPB

I am hoping its not that long actually...I would not be surprised if they actually release it a lot sooner. This is just a way to take some pressure off of them. It will either be Christmas 2013 or summer 2014.

I prefer my RPGs to give me some customization over the PCs looks, which is why although I can't get into Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 definitely has my attention. Besides I want DAI for its characters not its plot

Personally, i won't buy the witcher but that's because i own a ps3 and even if the witcher 3 comes to ps3/ps4 why would i buy the last game in a trilogy? I would probably buy the whole lot if it comes out as a set for the ps3/ps4 like ME did.

if they release DA3 in the fall of 2014 it will have to compete with the witcher 3 which in my opinion is not a good idea. bioware games have the best characters the only one that comes close is the witcher games and they are also similar in other ways so they will release DA3 at the same time as the witcher 3. in short these RPGs are very similar in the way they work and the people who love them. and unless I am mistaken they will have great replay value so it isn't like you just beat it once then stop which means if someone buys the witcher 3 they will likely not be done with it for at least a week and then they will likely buy a used copy of DA3 or wait even longer. it just seems stupid to go against the witcher  3 if they don't have to. they should release it in summer 2014 or winter 2014. what do you guys think

Actually its very smart financially to release the game then. Its close to the holidays and it will probably released around the same day...DA:Origins came out back in 2009.

Yes this thread should be closed. The poster has developed quite the habit of posting stuff like this.

Dragon Age 2 launched in March 2011; by the end of that year the launches of TW2, Skyrim, and TOR basically buried it.

What can i say... it's really depressing wait until 2014 comes... but IF they use the time to do a better game, i will justify the waiting.

Talking about The Witcher 3, i'm not interested. I Never like that game, so... DA3 doesn't have competence for me xD

This whole Dragon Age vs. The Witcher thing is just silly. Yes, the first two Witcher games were good games (and I own both of them) but they're not THAT good and they are certainly not something that BioWare should be "afraid" of.

look when you are releasing a game you don't want to compete with someone else for sales. I am not saying bioware is afraid of them or should be but they might lose sales.

Yes, I am indeed a terrible person for wanting to be able to play CRPGs as a woman, or a person who isn't straight and/or white.

If DAI appears to be good, I'll buy it.
If TW3 appears to be good, I'll buy it.

That will result in my buying either zero, one or two of those games in Fall 2014. I don't see a contradiction.

That said, I still haven't finished TW2 because I can't get past the Kayran battle. Such things never happened to me in Bioware games. DA2 has many flaws but at least I can finish it.

Heaven forbid they have to compete with other games, perhaps they should find a period of time when no other game is coming out.

Yea good luck with that.
