the batarian, ever since the humans reached out to the galaxy and started expanding through space. the batarians were after them. killing, enslaving, raping and doing whatever they could do to get away with it.

How would you deal with the batarian threat?

Or, more correctly phrased, "How did you deal with them?"  Because you have the opportunity to determine that when you generate your character in ME1.  And, of course, thorughout the entire series.

Under my Shepard, the Batarians didn't fare so well.  Shepard was a Ruthless Spacer, who did what was necessary.  That was my consistent choice, as well, when dealing with the Batarians throughout.  Most got killed, or lived only because there was something to be gained.  The meat moustache men didn't need to be understood beyond how useful they would be in the Reaper war in ME3.  And truth be told, since most were wiped out before the Reapers came after Alliance space, the decision about how to deal with them was mostly made for me....

Just curious as I've never combined Spacer/Ruthless... do any of the interactions with Shep's mom change? I bet not, but it would be nice for a different dialog depending on your actions.

Not as far as I know.  Apparently, your mom is proud of you anyway.  You know, probably a little ruthless herself...:D

There is no batarian threat. They have no power to really threaten even the Systems Alliance.
That is what you get for joining the three on their terms - you will be betrayed and cast aside(or obliterated).

Prior to ME3- Feed them a lot of Marxist rhetoric to kick off a rebellion or revolution within their society to weaken them while supplying the rebels/revolutionaries with enough weapons to keep them fighting the Hegemony. Their societal makeup seems like a prime target for using this kind of tactic of weakening them.

Post ME3- They are no longer threat the reapers hit them far too hard and they are barley even a shadow of their former self.

I despised the batarians in ME1 after "Bring Down The Sky" and every other Codex entry I read about them. God, to let Balak go was :pinched:

And then, in ME2, you had "N7: Javelin Missile" and that sent me over the edge. I wanted the OK to go after any batarian extremist I could get information on. Perhaps not all batarians were bad as I even saved one's life on Omega...

And then came "The Arrival" and the aftermath in ME3. Completely changed my perspective and how much of a stranglehold the Hegemony had on their society. Not all bad...

And on a side note, batarians in ME3's multiplayer are pretty sweet.

Three nights ago, I watched that Batarian on Omega die for the first time. I didn't want to waste the medigel. He drops 2000 credits. Cool. Then shoot the others with Daniel after getting them to lower their weapons.

On my last play through (well, my only play through) I went full Paragon with a wee bit of Renegade thrown in during the appropriate situations. Next time I play through the series I'll cheat and give myself full Paragon/Renegade bars to open all dialogue options (a stupid feature, anyway).

In essence, I'll wind up doing the same because my next incarnation of Shepard doesn't take flak from nobody

How would I deal with the batarians? I'm glad you asked. It's quite simple really.
