I was wondering if this would be at all possible? If your warden could actually make an appearance?
If the data was linked to your bioware account (because you will be unable to import saves on consoles) would it be able to happen?

If they can't ensure it is YOUR Warden, they should probably leave it out and just mention them based on your choices, E.g. Morrigan mentioning her love if your romanced her, finding out what happened to him/her if they're still alive or dead etc. Hawke would be much easier as they have his voice etc already, but still a generic Warden or Hawke would probably be worse.. To be honest I don't really care about Hawke, but I have a soft spot for my Warden, and there has to be SOME mention of him if Morrigan is in the game!

Anyway, lets discuss :D What are your opinions?

EDIT:With The Keep now announced, I would say this is far more likely! Especially if there is a character creator, allowing you to recreate Hawke and the Warden. Maybe it would be possible to import the Warden from the Bioware Social, much like you can upload and download characters in the Saints Row series.

It would be too much of a headache for Bioware to include a Warden cameo.
They have to account for all of the different race possibilities first and foremost. Next comes all of the background origins, then comes the intangible things like personality. If the Warden speaks, which will be a whole can of worms on its own, how are they going to get across the myriad of different personality possibilities that will keep everyone satisfied?
They can't. There would be a ragestorm to rival that tear in the fade because few people would be happy with whatever they do.
Best to let it be.

We don't know how save imports work, if it will work of course.
And Warden is silent character, as far as im aware Bioware said they won't do silent characters anymore. So i really don't know how that will be handled. That said i would much rather see Warden then Hawke.

I really hope not. I have no interest in seeing either the Warden or Hawke. I wouldn't mind a mention from a past companion but no cameo.

Hmmm, I see where you're all coming from. A mention from characters is a MUST though surely! Although I don't know how that would work either if you can't import saves... It just cuts me deep knowing Morrigan will be in the game and might not mention her love the Warden! :(

We know nothing about how the save imports will work.

It's entirely possible that they can just import the character creation settings from DA:O and perfectly visually recreate your Warden. Or perhaps they'll have a "rebuild your Warden" option during import, with it's own mini-character creator.

(And if you used mods in Origins to alter your character's appearance, and are worried they won't carry across ... tough. You knew the risks.)

Face import is not going to happen. Deal with it. Not even for ex-PCs. ME showed us that it can be PITA even within same engine.

Warden - no set face, no voice, no set race, no set gender, no set class - too much variables, 6 body models (3 races * 2), 2-3 classes each. They have nothing to show and noone to talk.

Hawke - set race, set voice (depending on gender) - makes only 2 models, either mage or non-mage each (and class can be discarded if needed). "faceless" appearance entirely possible.

And I will write this once again here ( already wrote few times in previous discussiions) -
BIOWARE, USE THE NAMES! No need to voice them, but no one prevents you from writing it down in codex, letters, scrolls, walls, trees, skies, gravestones.

It's a text variable, come on, Hawke had name, and so did Hero of Ferelden (possibly aka king or queen of Ferelden). You can make her wear a bucket on her head if you wish so, I know you can't get her face into DAI, I'm fine with it. Just add name variable into game and into subs. Or at least initial letters ( if you so afraid that someone's Verystupidnameofmanyletters will ruin text formatting. Like any name above X letters turns into X. Hawke or X. Cousland.

And what about the Warden that goes with Morrigan in the mirror? It would be really odd for her to show up in the game, but not the Warden, wouldn't it?

No, not really. They don't have to be with each other all the time.

I don't mind if my warden did not look like the warden I had made in the original game the mods would be hard to copy over to frostbite, as long as she was female and had the choices I made in the original game I would be happy with that.

My canon Warden died, so I have no interest.

Even if he survived the Blight, I still don't think I'd care. The Warden story is over and done with; his/her presence would only cause more grief than it's worth. I'd be much more satisfied with elaborated references and explanations to his/her current location, instead of being ignored.

I feel genuine sympathy for the Leliana/Zevran fans out there; there was no explanation as to why those characters left romanced Wardens. Things like that need to be avoided.

Alistair's (king) cameo was slightly better; it made more sense and there was confirmation that a Cousland Queen was still around. His Warden cameo was in the same position as Leliana/Zevran though, no disclosure as to why the Warden seperated from his people.

So yeah, I genuinely think the Warden appearing visually would be a huge mistake, and I'd much rather have references/statements that disclose as to what/where/how etc the Warden is/doing.

Plus, I really hope Bioware does not neglect the unusual choices of Origins. For example, my canon male mage Warden romanced Morrigan but refused the dark ritual and made the ultimate sacrifice. I really hope they acknowledge both the romance and the epilogue slide; I'd love to see the Warden/Morrigans natural child, and not the old God baby. But I have a feeling that the Warden/Morrigan natural child will just be A) Forgotten, or B) Passed off as the Old God Babay (you know, not the same leage of strength but the same story line etc...). And that's if the romance is even acknowledged, lol. I don't know why but I have a really iffy feeling that if the Warden died while romancing Morrigan, she'll move on bloody quickly. >.>... so yeah, I don't see any mopey and grieving Morrigan in DAI. :(

There's also the Warden-Commander, from Awakenings.

A Warden defeated the Archdemon. A Warden defeated the Mother. In some games, those are the same person. In some, it's two different Wardens.

But regardless, there is, in fact, a Warden who continues on, alive, after the full events of DAO/DAA.

people that are gonna b**ch about the default face are generally the ones who will complain about anything to the point of if you give them gold they will complain it is heavy. most people would like to see hawk again

I really don't see how it could be. I think Hawke could possibly be done (though that may just be a bit of wishful thinking), but the Warden has no voice and has a face far removed from DA2 (let alone whatever changes they make in Inquisition). An elf Warden would probably be unrecognizable, and a dwarf may not match that closely either.

And if it gets to where you have to have a mysterious cloaked figure whose face is never seen and who never speaks, what would even be the point? Who's going to be satisfied with that?

Like another poster above, though, my canon Warden died, so it's not something I would ever see anyway, even if they have figured out a way to include them in the game.

I personally think Bioware is going to really surprise us and maybe have cameos by both Hawk and The Hero. Its not impossible technically esp if we don't have to control them. I see our PC meeting them somewhere and having a brief conversation with them. But remember they have said officially that both of their story's are over so they won't be participating relative to our PC's perspective...so a quick "how do you do" is totally doable.

I think I'm the only one not appaled by the idea of the Warden and Hawke showing up. They have such an impact over the story, after all, it was the Warden that ended the blight, Hawke was the catalyst in the whole mage/templar war. It would be very understable if one of the player objectives were to find both of them in order to get help to end all these conflicts (after all, both Hawke and the Warden are an one man army), so even if they are not companions (I wouldn't mind them as temporary companions), they could be recruitable allies for the player cause. I think the only step back is to set the Warden personality, since unlike Hawke, the player can't exactly give him a personality.
