I personally think Bioware is going to really surprise us and maybe have cameos by both Hawk and The Hero. Its not impossible technically esp if we don't have to control them. I see our PC meeting them somewhere and having a brief conversation with them. But remember they have said officially that both of their story's are over so they won't be participating relative to our PC's perspective...so a quick "how do you do" is totally doable.

I could see a Hawke cameo being possible. There are barely any mods that drastically change Hawke's appearance, s/he has a set voice and a set race. So fair play, I can agree with Hawke making a cameo.

However, the Warden is almost like an impossible **** storm that I'd be surprised if the Devs went near. There are 3 models that would need to be worked (3 races/2 genders), no set voice and mods are rampant. I don't think I've ever seen a PC played Warden that does not have its appearance drastically changed.

I mean, my dead Warden doesn't use a single vanilla CC aspect, and I always invisioned his voice to be a Scottish accent. How would Bioware transfer that into DAI? :P. Would my Warden (although, he's dead so this is purely hypothetical), be a blurred man with an American accent? xD

The Warden's story being over doesn't necessarily mean he isn't part of anyone else's story. And considering that DA:I seems to be World War Thedas, it would be strange if the Warden and Hawke had no involvement at all.

I don't expect face imports, but an option to rebuild them in a prologue could work.

Then don't used mods. The console players don't use them and they are fine.

But a big marketing aspect of Dragon Age: Origins was the toolset.

You can't create such a programme, advertise it as a selling point for customers to buy the game, and then later turn round and say 'nevermind, the toolset actually screwed you over'.

And mods are really the least of their concerns. The Warden was deliberately mapped out as a character that has so many variables in personality/appearance/outcomes etc, that there simply is no solid basis to depict him/her correctly in DAI. I'd venture to say it's impossible, and would ruin many personal characters that people value.

Not gunna lie, it's one of the main reasons I picked the US. Meta-gaming, sure, but I just couldn't bring myself to watch the massacre of my character in future installments. A heroic death was easier to swallow. :P

Like I said, Hawke is much more fixed and thus far easier to implement. There's only one race, two genders, fixed voices and 3 fixed personalities. On top of that, modding was limited so yeah, I could see Hawke making a cameo. Not the Warden though.

And what about the Warden that goes with Morrigan in the mirror? It would be really odd for her to show up in the game, but not the Warden, wouldn't it?

this is actually one of my biggest thoughts! I mean, surely they would be together? Or if not there better be a damn good explanation!

That is a brilliant idea! Rebuild them and be able to choose all the big choices, like the ME prologue choice if you don't import save data! The LI choice is a must.. It better be there...

Although I would love to see both my Warden(s) and Hawke(s) in DAI, I don't know how it could be done or if it is feasible. I mean I had trouble importing my Shepard into ME3. Had to completely re-design her as closely to her original look in the CC, as she did not transfer very well!

I think they both may be mentioned in some way by other characters but you will not see them.

I think the voice thing would be problimatic but that being said I stil think its doable if your Hero lived (which is what cannon is (Alistair's meeting in DA2) and Cassandra and Lileana eludes to that as well at the end. I think they may get around that by having a third person reference to it. For example, you see the Hero walking by and Lileana explains who it is. At any rate I exepct to see Hawke and at least get third person reference to the Hero if not actually meeting her. In my head, my hero has a Gaelic accent so I am pretty sure the voice thing won't happen lol.

A think a Warden cameo is entirely possible. I see no reason you couldn't travel to Ferelden and visit the Warden's grave, to pay your respects or whatever. Maybe click on an object to loot some gear from the tomb. You know how it goes.

Didn't they say they would try to include a cameo of Hawke and the Warden? So it could be possible.

Dunno how they'd re-create the face of your character unless they make you do it yourself. Hawke or the Warden could be conveniently be wearing a full face helmet or something, and only edit the model based on race (for the warden)

The Warden is the only once acceptable to deal with Morri. Certainly no unneeded new protagonist anyway ^^

Morrigan is in the game. My warden is supposed to be with her, they are together, so I don't see why I couldn't see him again. If that's not possible, so be it. But there's no reason he couldn't  appear again. Put a hood over his head hidden and that's all. I don't care about the voice, that's not what will break my " immersion " lol. I'd be even happy, if my warden's face was transferred in DAI. :)

What about personality? I guess waifu sex takes a higher place then the personality of a character?

Personality will be an issue. But then, I'm also worried about Bioware half-assing their explanation for why the Warden isn't present, for those who went beyond the Eluvian. I don't think they should have made that an option for players, period.

Well... it certain endings of Awakening, the Warden was recalled to Weisshaupt, right? And we've been speculating that the Seekers in the trailer are beseiging Weisshaupt...

I just don't see the point to offer an chance for the Warden survive and continue his adventures only for him to disappear permanently right after. Face import the Warden can't be that impossible, can it? They adapted Morrigan, cassandra and Varric after all.

It is for us that have a modded Warden and Hawke and don't give me that "don't mod" bullcrap.

Also Cass and morrigan look horrible in that DA3 trailer.

Warden could have changed his/her face to hide his identity for some reason? I came with this idea right now so bioware can find a better one if they try. And the voice thing, if its not the voice you wanted deal with it, you didn't pick your voice when you were born. :D Due to too many different race and gender variations if there was a warden cameo it would be short, but it is not impossible.

Only neutral sentences could be imposed which would show no indication of his personality.
That's not really difficult. Like: " Morrigan, we should go. "  We could see him fight next to Morrigan, etc etc.

I would just be happy to see my warden again. I don't think I would scream for a few sentences pronounced even if it isn't what I would think, to be honest...

Absolutely. That's what is more important to me. I want answers. I want my choice to be relevant.
