I'm in the same boat as you OP. I've always laughed at Xbox owners for paying for a service they could be getting for free. Now with this announcement about the PS4 I guess I'd have to laugh at myself if I don't upgrade to a gaming PC. Only thing that turns me off is that I don't like playing at a desk and keyboard/ mouse do not sit comfortably in one's lap...

Guess Sony figures they can get away with being somewhat dickish to their customers since Microsoft is going to make them look like the good guys by comparision either way... Image IPB

Playstation Plus allows you to download free games. 2 every month, iirc. I think it'll be just fine :]

My issue with that is that they are essentially forcing you to buy those 2 "free" game each month by making it a part of the multiplayer service. They should at least create a pricing tier where the people who DGAF about their "free" games can just pay less for MP capability only and not all the mandatory bells and whistles that let them "justify" their asking price...

Consoles are a captive audience. You can't run away from that. However, you'll also have to consider that consoles have exclusive titles that may or may not be ported over to PC. Also because of the variety of PC hardware and software clashes, you can easily run into problems for particular games that require time and effort to isolate and solve.

On the bright side, you don't need to pay to play online for most games and your performance will be way, way better in terms of visual quality and responsiveness

I'm trying to solve the keyboard/muse thing. I'm thinking of getting those gaming mice that have a billion buttons and one of those gaming keypads, that should be enough keys/buttons for most games.

Then I just need a way to suspend them somewhere so you can still move your hands around. Perhaps some kind of adjustable arms coming out of the coffee table.

It helps when you've built your own coffee table (;

I'm a bit annoyed that Sony are going to require PS+ for online gaming... but not for Netflix. Come on, guys.

If it works for you then that's fantastic. My thing is, I'm not a huge gamer. I actually got the PS3 as a blu-ray player and then went "well I may as well try a game or two and see what it's like." I definitely do NOT need two games a month. The kind of games I get are the ones you end up playing for months. Hell I've been playing ME3 almost exclusively for over a year. Took some breaks for AC3 and TR, and now for some reason I'm doing a Skyrim playthrough but I will be back to ME3 pretty soon.

I used to play games on PC many ywars ago. I kinda hate having a PC with Windows on it just for games though.

And yeah, I still remember trying ME3MP for the first time, thinking I'd not like it at all. Then one time WE WON! It was epic! It was bronze but back then that was still epic (:

Yeah, I'm thinking along similar lines. But I dunno, it'll still never be as comfortable as chillin on the couch with a controller. Guess that's the price you pay for controls that actually do all the things you need them to do.

Y can I no run and turn at the same time Biower!?!?

That was so irritating.

This looks like it might help with the learning curve, moving to PC controls.
