Hi all I was bummed to hear that DA:I was delayed but it's
for the best cause it will give Bioware more time to work on it.

I just wanted to suggest...well more like hope that if they add a gay character
in DA, or character(s) :P,  he will be
more like Steve in ME3 not a Steve copy paste mind you, but I want him to be
similar in the way he was not the stereotypical gay guy you find in shows, his
romance was a "tragic" type and I was glad that you had to
"work" on his romance instead of him just throwing himself in your
lap which I find silly.

I hope In DAI characters will actually have a choice to downright
reject the hero or just say you're not my type your too evil/good/rogue/magic
using/ugly.....etc

that way romances will be more complex like in real life (well
not EXACTLY it's still a game after all)

also I found Steve to be extremely attractive I know it's a preference
thing, but I hope they  design the new
guy(s) to be more like that, or even give us an option to do it via some kind
of modding tool set...but I digress.

that's all :P

oh yah and I want more spells plz XD

Don't mean to be rude but you might want to check out your post formatting? It could be my browser picking it up strangely but there seem to be some extraneous spaces and text blocks.

I was a big fan of the DA2 romance format since it adds so many more options to the game. Since we're already playing a PC with a standard name for the sake of voice acting, it makes sense the romance can be awesome and moving while still available to any takers.

David Gaider has pretty much confirmed that all romance options in DA3 will be available to either gender. But there can always be NPCs who are more limited in their sexuality (such as Wade and Herren).

Where did Mr. Gaider confirm this? Links anywhere, proof, quotes. . .?
Considering how reluctant they've been on handing out any information, let alone companion information, this is a pretty big deal.

@OP
While I can sympathize with wanting a character as well-handled as Steve, I can only say that if they (Bioware) were to make a romance such as his, it would handled maturely, and not, "Hey, did you know I'm gay? Just so you know." Let be only a facet of his character, not what he's based around. Let this character be like a diamond; sure, you can admire different facets and angles one at a time, but the true beuty is the whole jewel. :)

There was a time when people asked for dungeons, paladins, thieves, dark sorcerers, huntresses, dancers and Dragons in video games.

Now they ask for gay characters.

Steve was a great character. I really would have liked him on my squad. He was just so cool. Down to earth. A kick butt pilot.

And very handsome. My FemShep did carry a bit of a torch for him. Alas, it would never be, but it turns out he was great bro material.

Hey, some of us demand dungeons, paladins, thieves, dark sorcerers, huntresses, Dragons and gay characters!

(Well, given the setting, I'll ask for Templars instead of paladins, but its the same thing really.)

Also, OP, I do like the idea in your post abt making the PC have to "earn" it.

Even if it's just a friendship..like w/Sten. It was a process. A building of trust and respect.

well he can cast spells on me as much as he wants XD

but like soccerchick said, the character's sexual orientation should not be its defining attributes, he should be a great character that HAPPENS to be gay.

The times of antiquity are long gone now.

<serious> No mention of Arcade Gannon or Veronica Santangelo?  You people disgust me :)

There is no reason why the paladins, thieves, dark sorcerers, huntresses, dancers and dragons can't be LIs as well ...

Frankly given the setting dugeons etc are requirements that there is no need to demand.  Speaking as someone who personally doesn't care whether or not the character is gay (I'm not, my main character won't be, but I don't begrudge anyone the option for wanting their own characters to be that way.) I think I speak to most people in that position when I say....

1) Don't have the NPCs be player sexual.  They're either designed to be straight, designed to be gay, or designed to be bi.  Designed to be bi isn't the same thing as "will sleep with the player no matter what with no inclination that the character plays all of the fields."
2) Make gay characters Steve, not Zhevran.   (Zhevran is still allowed to be Zhevran, but we don't need another walking stereotype.  He gets grandfathered.
3) Don't have the character walk around with a placard saying "GAY CHARACTER AT WORK HERE!"  Hell, if it's clear from in game actions that I'm not pursuing a relationship with the character the issue of who the NPC would like to be with doesn't even have to come up, or if it does don't make it like the NPC is making this big decision to tell you.  Facets as someone else said.  The character happens to be gay, not this is the gay character.

I don't care about video games characters' sexuality :/
In my opinion it is as relevant to a video game as if they like beans or not.
If beans are important in the plot it is interesting. If not, I don't care.
I'm only interested if the sexuality is related to something in the plot (Philippa from The Witcher 2 "politically" using her being a lesbian to divert attention from an entire city for instance).

I much rather have characters that are gay, straight or bisexual by default like we had in Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 3 so that way there are limits on who you can romance.  Making every party member bisexual just seems like sloppy writing in my opinion.

This is the Bioware forums m8. People don't care about gameplay here. If you can't romance it it doesn't matter.

Not this again. Player-sexual. It's not Gaider his fault that all of you are metagaming.

I'm sure they'll have plenty of characters with various sexualities. My concern is that they aren't just there to BE that sexuality, but so far, Bioware is doing very nicely on that front (in my opinion). I haven't really seen it yet.

And I, too, would like more spells. Because mages are awesome.

Sorry I don't care about the sexuality of the npcs but this pathetic apologeticism on behalf of Bioware needs to stop. It would be sloppy writing regardless of how much you would have to play the game to notice it.

Gaider has said numerous times that, in a perfect world with tons and tons of resources, he would prefer this as well. It's not sloppy writing; it's writing designed to make the most number of people happy. It's done so that, in your head, Fenris can be totally straight if romanced by a female (or not at all). The only character (to my recollection) that was canonically bisexual (or at least attracted to men, so I suppose he could have been viewed as gay) was Anders. And maybe Zevran.

I'd prefer set sexualities as well. But I completely get why they went (and are going?) the way they did. At least as much as I can as a fan and not a developer.

I agree with you OP. Hopefully we will have some openly gay characters in DA: I
The LI's will be playersexual again unless they managed to have an *equal number* of options for all sexualities. But I do hope there are gay NPC's.
Nice avatar by the way.
