I'm pretty sure age group is not customize-able because it would require multiple voice actors.

I like a lot of these ideas. It's too bad we won't be able to play THROUGH the background, though. In Mass Effect I actually forgot what my background was once or twice, since it affects you so little! If the DA:I background literally affected every conversation though, like in origins, I would be totally fine with it.

Also, as others have said, playing a human converted to the Qun would be VERY interesting. Good job!

The origins are not going to work like that, they are going to be more generic. The protagonist is an inquisitor, the origin is what he/she was before. To put an example, Shepard is an alliance soldier, and the pre-service history can be earthborn/colonist/spacer.

Same thing here, the inquisitor may be a former:
- circle mage (options to go either way the conflict here)
- noble (or something else as boring)
- peasant

Definitely not templar of anything like that, the protagonist is going to be an inquisitor first, and the origin is just a backstory to explain how he/she gets to that position.

Would a templar not be in a position to become an inquisitor?

I suppose it could happen, but then the game would have to acknowledge that you were a templar (ex. give templar powers, dealing with the addiction, etc.), which is a lot more difficult than being an empoverished noble, and throwing here an there a few references to your family name.

I find far more likely that the game origins will be based around social standing, rather than professions, because like the warden, the profession of the protagonist is  to be an inquisitor, to the point where the origin is secondary, you are first and foremot a warden, not a city elf or noble dwarf. However anything can happen, this is just my guess based on what DAO origins were like.
