It starts out in Thedas and the main villain wants to rule the universe and finds a thousand year old device and is transported to earth in the modern times and the main character and your companions follow him through the portal
What if they did a Dragon Age game with the story kinda like Beast Master 2 throught the portal of time?

But then the villain would be trying to control the multiverse, not the universe.

I'd be on board if the alternate dimension was the Jade Empire and if it was the opposite way around, water dragon god emperor taking over Thedas.
