I must say, this bug really bugs me.

You try to do right by someone, free a slave, give them work, and the one person in the game who is supposed to understand you the most and never judge accuses you of slavery.

This almost makes what happens with Quentin less sad.

I agree (wait I actually agree with Grey Nayr..wtf is happening to me). Seriously though that bugged me too. You free a slave and your mom acts like you made it worse.

Don't think anything of it. And don't stare while I draw out my blood and murmur incantations.

It did bother me, but not that much. I took it for what it was, a bug. If the character Leandra had been told exactly what Hawke was doing she'd approve, that was good enough for me.

I don't really see that as Leandra accusing Hawke of taking a slave. I've always interpreted that line as Leandra expressing some understandable shock at a half-starved elven girl showing up on her doorstep and telling her "Your son/daughter killed my former slave masters. S/he says I work for you now."

This ain't like taking home a stray dog, you know what I'm saying? And let's not forget, it's not like Hawke actually accompanied her back to Kirkwall to explain the situation.

That's a pretty good point actually, Evildude. Orana's already there by the time Hawke show's up. Plus there's a good chance that Bodahn answered the door and had to poke his head in on Leandra in the study and say something akin to "Ah....ma'am? There's a bit of a situation that requires your attention." And then she walks in on an emaciated elven woman saying "Where do I start?"

No it does kinda annoy me. If Leandra said it before you spoke to Orana and you hadn't made it clear that you'd given you a job, that would be fine.

But even after you've explained it to Orana, Leandra still behaves as though you've taken in a slave. You don't even get the chance to say. "Hold on, I employed her."

I most definitely see the point but I have to say it never occurred to me.  I just didn't take it that way.  I saw it as Leandra commenting on Orana's immediate origins, as in an Elven slave girl, which is what she had been.   It probably should have been phrased better.
