Well, I now see there wasn't a reason I couldn't post what I sent to RB before.

Now, of course, as I am writing the next part, I have to instead go pick up my kid who got sick from school.

Just let me know when I can actually have a normal boring day. Really, since November it hasn't happened. Why doesn't someone make it snow stupid amounts again? Because honestly, why not just shut everything down again? I really would prefer payback instead of sympathy. Someone else needs to suffer...I'll take that over it getting better for me because clearly it isn't going to happen.

I remember last christmas when it snowed in the UK. Everything ground to a halt while the Health and Safety Men and Women stood in the middle of the street's waving placards saying....."Don't do it"!

"Stay inside"!

"We envy your comfort"!

"Can we have a cup of tea? Hot"!

Okay.... so I'm currently writing for Zia and Naomi in the shuttle while everything else get's laid out.

Wyld's playing catchup...... AGAIN....... to the Bastion forces with Lucy and Rockwood who is being very quiet.

Baldurjack is likewise galloping along to join the fray!

And Zia and Naomi are having a fairly serious talk abaord a rattling Kodiak. So far Naomi's punched a hole in the Kodiak's decking where Zia's head was a moment prior. Decided if she's going to pull her weight in battle she needs sand.....for which Lucy is the only supplier...... which means Wyld since she confiscated Lucy's sand.

And Naomi's developing a bit of an attitude towards Zia, on account that passive aggressive digs are all she can really do since Zia seems adamount that Wyld is her other half.

And while she's at it.... Naomi's finding chinks in Zia's armour regarding her upbringing.

Next: Zia retaliates!

or....

How did Naomi get through the Grissom Academy when all she had was the biotic potential of a grapefruit?

How many times is that "We've locked certain aspects of the forums but are working to bring you new stuff"! Going to appear?

It's a good thing I use Deviant Art to store pics online. TBH Bioware could do with upgrading how they store pictures. Pulling pics out of their photo album does crazy things to the res and color balance.

Yes, ye olde "We're going to improve things!!!" Have they heard of creating a parallel system and work and test that so they don't have to lock down sections of the existing forum.

Of course you realize what is going to happen when everything is implemented, don't you? It's going to be a charlie foxtrot and we're going to have to re-register. All the forums will be wiped clean. I'm so glad I've got things consolidated on my own PC and two others now. Backups.

I've finally gathered all the posts back into my main file and discovered that the file has grown to 445 pages, with 208,620 words to it....... And 177 posts that make it all up!

I'm thinking of creating a second document so I can add other people's related posts to fill out the story more. So event's flow without gaps.

Holy crap, Redbelle!!! 208,000 words!!! The thing is you're talking 445 pages of letter size.

*bows down*

I copied Wyld's plot when it interacted with Naleena (the sarge), and I've got Padre's complete subplot covered. Now I've got to pick the parts of Padre's that I need. I'd put the entire thing in, but I've got to be reasonable. The story is going to be as thick as "The Pelican Brief" (120,500 words) as it is if it were a book.

Naleena is such a s***. But I've got to remember this:

While Asari may resemble humans, and in some ways are similar to humans, they are aliens. Don’t apply human morality to them. No two species are identical. All must be judged on their own merits. Treating every species like one’s own is racist, even benign anthropomorphism.

Some weeks you have control... others?

Someone rings up out of the blue while your working on your deadlines and throws the whole thing out of wack! You do the work they want so their happy while you........

You look at the website..... see the one image you didn't photograph..... and know that deep down, you could have gotten it up ahead of the weekend if the reception team didn't keep dumping this extra workflow on your table!!!!

RAAAAGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Okay I'm good now. :o)

Here is the introduction to "The Lost Asari." I wrote it just in case someone decides to actually read it a few years from now so they have an idea what the hell they're reading. The author of the story is Juliara T'siri. Remember that name. She's going to be famous one day. I had to go "into character" to write this, so if it has a pro-Asari slant, now you know why.

Introduction

In the year 2157 CE, Humanity discovered the Mass Relays , unlocked its first and discovered that it was not alone. Less than 30 years later it found itself united with the rest of the galaxy in a fight for everyone’s existence.

No, that’s not how it happened. In the year 3041 ACE , we Asari learned there was another race in the galaxy, and as usual the Turians overreacted, and concluded that first contact with this new power on the galactic scene was to be war because they unlocked a mass relay and decided to settle on Shanxi without Council permission. Turians are sticklers for the rules. Well if this new race had known about The Council they might have known the procedure, but alas they didn’t and the Turians unilaterally decided that extermination was the only course of action. And as usual we Asari had to step in and negotiate peace before someone did something they regretted. This new race called itself Humanity. They were from a planet called Earth.

They were really a pain in the britches at first, and kept making demands like they were something special. The odd thing about them was that except for a few things and their weird skin colors they bore a close resemblance to Asari. Those were: hair instead of a cartilaginous crest; lack of neck folds; body hair; these odd shaped things on the side of their heads they called ears; and there were males. It was the run-ins with the last aspect that caused the most trouble, as usual.

They were given an embassy, and given an area of space to colonize. They were allowed to build a fleet to protect them, but apparently they couldn’t wait to expand. And expand they did. In a mere 27 years they expanded to cover over nearly a third of the galaxy. They encroached on Batarian space and didn’t expect any repercussions. They encroached on the Terminus Systems and demanded our help. It takes time to build a good sized fleet. Didn’t they think they might have overextended themselves?

Humans are an intense relatively short-lived species. Actually they’re average-lived for the galaxy. Asari and the Krogan are the exceptions with both of us living over 1200 years. Krogan, now there’s an intense species. They tried to take over the entire galaxy, and would have if it weren’t for the Salarians and the Turians smacking them down with the genophage. They rebelled against the entire galaxy because we, mere Asari, wouldn’t let them have Lusia. Still they make good mates if you can find a smart one. I’m getting side tracked.

Humans have a narrow view of us. Most have never seen our worlds and have only run into Asari maidens on the Citadel or in the Terminus dancing in nightclubs. And most Human naval personnel frequent the sleazy bars and places like that. It is there they watch a few Asari maidens pole dance and think that this is what Asari do – never mind there are others attending university. They advertise these places in the media, and Humans think that this is the full extent of Asari culture. They may run into a few Asari mercenaries. Our empire spans a quarter of the galaxy. Do they think we conquered it pole dancing? Our civilization is an e-democracy. Poverty is almost non-existent, and we have the lowest crime rate of any civilization in the galaxy. It’s safe to walk the streets at night in our major cities. Do they show any of our cultural marvels on Thessia or on any of our well-developed colony worlds? No, of course they don’t. Anthropocentric bag of dicks. It would be like me judging the entire Human Race by the deceased Councilor Donnell Udina. Udina was a real ass; or judging Humanity by The Illusive Man who headed a terrorist organization.

It turned out that it was a good thing we let Humanity into the galactic community, because they did help out immensely at the Battle of the Citadel in 3069. That was when a crazy Turian named Saren Arterius tried to let in death machines called Reapers to wipe out the galaxy. Commander Shepard became the first Human to be named Spectre. Shepard stopped him. Spectres are a combination between super spies and commandos, at least Asari ones anyway. Shepard was a unique one who always managed to pull everyone together to get the job done.

Our victory in 3069 was short-lived, and in 3073, the Reapers invaded the galaxy anyway. Our navy fought valiantly. The Reapers had difficulty adjusting to our hit and run tactics. We managed to keep our fleet intact while inflicting damage. Soon, the Reapers adjusted their tactics and bypassed our fleets and landed. Our military is structured for hitting hard and setting an example: like blowing up a big enemy space station, and this usually gets the enemy to back down in a hurry. If not, our fleet has the largest ship in the galaxy: the Destiny Ascension. It could kill a Reaper with one shot. It is the only ship in the galaxy that could do that. However there were thousands of Reapers.

Our military isn’t built for a sustained ground war. We retreat to the forests and jungles and fight a guerilla war. We’re just not equipped for the other scenarios. And with the Reapers? Many of our worlds surrendered outright rather than be destroyed. Fighting a ground war with commandos against nearly indestructible enemies that are taller than skyscrapers would have been a bit futile. The populations just waited to be processed by the Reapers, and hoped that this secret project our government was involved with would pull out a miracle somehow before anything happened.

So at the start of the Reaper War, Admiral Steven Hackett took command of the Allied Fleets. Notice I said took command. There wasn’t any formal appointment process, not that the politicians would have been able to come to any decision in time. Hackett proved himself as a man of action when his Fifth Fleet took down Sovereign in 3069 and saved The Council, and no one seemed to object to his taking the lead. He wanted to forge alliances and win and that’s all that mattered. That’s something this writer could get behind. The politicians were another matter. I blasted them with my commentaries for sitting on their asses, and I got fired for it. Sanctimonious bastards.

Hackett had a project that all of the major galactic powers, especially the Asari, sent their best scientific minds to work on. It was called Project Crucible. All military action we were taking was to buy time so that this weapon could be deployed. It was supposed to attach to the Citadel and do a whole bunch of stuff that’s so technical it’s beyond my comprehension. Bottom line is that we hoped it would destroy the Reapers before they wiped out all of us. Well after the Reapers invaded our home world, Thessia, our leaders decided to send our navy and our best Commando Platoons to Earth along with every other major race to make that one last stand.

The Reapers had moved the Citadel to Earth and had begun their harvest of Humanity, positioned the Citadel over London, and they had closed its arms which made it impossible to attach The Crucible. However, the Reapers were using a beam to transport humans, both dead and living up to the Citadel. Admiral Hackett had a three prong attack: Operation Sword which involved the fleets engaging the Reapers in space over Earth; Operation Hammer which had the task of getting soldiers to the beam so they could get onto The Citadel and open the arms; and once that was completed Operation Shield which brought in The Crucible to attach to The Citadel. If we lost this battle, we were next. We weren’t going to let that happen.

This is the account of the famous Artemis Platoon during Operation Hammer.

Righteo!

I've started putting together the part with Wyld's rescue of Rea from pursuing Oculous drones.

I'll get it typed up then send it over to Kel for a look. Had the nephews over this weekend. For a 1 and 2 year old it's hard work finding time for writing stuff...... but the first line of Wyld's dialogue is a ****** :D

Oh RB, I figured the Asari would reset their calendar the year they discovered The Citadel, and I had to recalculate everything based on Asari years which meant multiplying all the time by 1.11111111111, since Thessian years are 0.9 Earth years. and FYI Earth days are only .86 Thessian days.

Ooo. Ooo.

Is it the part where the absence of Catalyst interference has a group of canibals form that Barbershop Quartet you've been hinting about for weeks?.......

........

Or am I thinking of a different thing involving a D&D group........

I think I may have gotten the two confused. I blame the smoke alarm. It's beeping at me.... Telling me to give it Moar Powah!!!

I heeded your warning and the smoke alarm is now in pieces that were smashed with a hammer, microwaved to goo and then buried in the back yard in a lead container wrapped in chains.

Whoooooose the savior of the human race!

In! Your! Face! Skynet!!!

On an unrelated note, the microwave caught fire and burned the house down..... Turns out digging a 6ft hold the ground is involved work...... tends to distract..... yahknow?
