Basically like it :)
It could do slightly more damage; but it's fine with some equipment and nice rounds.

IMHO best on Asari Vanguard.

Smart Choke? Yeah!

Also on anything with MM and a smartchoke it's fairly deadly in Bronze.

Fixed that for you

I can kill mooks quickly on Gold with it.  You have to hit the head though. It's ok but the talon is better.

And that's it's biggest problem once you unlock the Talon there is no good reason to use it other than using it as an Omni-Blade handle.  I did use it for both Commando and Shotgun challenges (on the Asarigard) so it's not terrible but........... if it did bonus damage vs Barriers or something it would at least have some kind of niche.

The Disciple has seen enough buffs to drag it up from 'completely terrible' to the lofty height of 'sort of okay now.'

But it's a gun that's only average, competing in a category filled with with some of the most powerful (and in some cases blatantly overpowered) weapons in the game.

With the total BS weight of the Talon, and the greater power of the only slightly heavier Wraith and Pirahna, it's really hard to justify using the Disciple as anything but a fancy sword hilt.

Smart Choke is a must on most shotguns, including the Disciple.

I used it for a long time on the Krogan Vanguard (melee build).

If the Disciple actually staggered enemies consistently, I'd use it. I find its biggest asset to be unreliable, at best.

...but it does. The first shot always staggers... but it's not going to chain stagger things like Ballistic Blades/Venom/etc.

Wasn't it you who called it the Asari dil** gun?

Probably... I like that word, especially to describe Geth characters (made by Quarian females b/c of Quarian males unable to satisfy them).

A level I talon is better

Well yeah but the OP is looking for builds that use the Disciple. If we're talking about anything more than an omniblade holder, those are to two use that I have for it. It's not like terribad but there are much better options. Of course I use the Scimitar on gold at times so I have a wide range of perspective on what a truly terrible weapon is. :D

It's been a quite a while since I tried it. I may not have known about stagger cooldown when I took it for a spin (it was before the Challenge system, I know that.)

I'll be getting around to Shotgun Mastery as soon as I'm done with Pistol and Sniper, so I'll revisit it, and see if I can get it to work for me.

Your the same guy who made a thread about liking the Vindicator.

Nothing you say is relevant.

this quote made the thread worth while Image IPB
but the disciple I have used it about as much as I use the wraith, it is a gun with survivability, not damage. and this is why its a good gun, because you cant kill things when you're dead.Image IPB

but my threads are more to raise awareness of these weapons, so people try them and make their own judgement rather than the BSN's logic 'its not a reegar/harrier/hurricane/acolyte, out the air lock'Image IPB

Like it, a lot. Use it on the Huntress frequently and throw it on some of the vanguards.

I don't love it, or hate it.
I used to use it on my Asguard a while back, but I swapped it for a Claymore for style pts.

So I haven't used it in quite a while, and, for me, there's not a kit where I find the Disciple appealing.

It would be nice if the pellets behaved like mini-acolyte shots.

In my opinion...the Disciple's and Acolyte's functionality should have been reversed. Makes more sense that way.

But hey...Space Magic.  :wizard:

It might be passable if you used 888 of them at the same time.
But it's garbage on it's own, even the most impressive feature it has (stagger) is inconsistent at best.
Only reason to use it is to wield a Shotgun-omniblade without adding too much weight to your character. Otherwise, the Wraith for example does everything better and has only slightly more weight.
I used to like the Disciple in the beginning, but at this point in the game living cycle, it can only be described as garbage.

I think that's the main problem. You can give up DPS if you get back something you can use like consistent stagger. The weapon just kind of lost it's niche because there's nothing it does remarkably well other than hold an omniblade.

I still like it though, I like the feel of it from time to time.

After trying to do 13 Gold solos with teh thing and failing... it does not have enough dmg for my preferences.
Only way I use it is with a fully decked out GI, a heavier more dmg oriented weapon is preferable for the Justicar IMO.
