This post is about what accent or voice we'd want our PC to sound like. I really hope Bioware stays away from the British accent or the typical "Clint Eastwood" style voice we hear in video games (Snake from Metal Gear or Geralt from Witcher come to mind). What about an Orlesian accent? I wouldn't mind it if it's done well. I know the Orlesian accents sound very cheesy sometimes. So what kind of voice would do you want our PC to have? Or is it okay for him to sound British? Let's try to keep this topic civil. Discuss :)

i'd be okay with a British accent so long as it was this British accent. :3

British accents are so overplayed in fantasy games.
I wouldn't mind an Orlesian accent. Our perceptions are colored by the likes of Isolde and the antagonists in MotA.
So long as the protagonist speaks sanely, I'm sure an Orlesian accent would sound fine. French accents IRL can sound quite attractive.

It's simple. The Inquisie till be an extremely well trained covert operative. S/he will be well versed in all manner of accents but will choose to use a Fereldan accent because no one expects a Fereldan turnip.

The tricky bit is that the accent creates an implication of origin. Thedas, while not a direct analogue to medieval Europe, most definitely pulls some inspiration from it (especially in regards to language).

If the PC has a French accent, they are from Orlais.
If the PC has a British accent, they are from Ferelden or the Free Marches.
If the PC has a Spanish accent, they are from Antiva.
If the PC has an American accent, the PC was raised by dwarves.

Etc, etc.

I want both male and female Inquisitor to have German accents.

German accent is awesome. It will also stand out from all the French accents in Orlais without feeling out of place.

To be more specific, I want rough rugged German with a slight hint of Irish. I want the voice of the Inquisitor to have a sound of aggression, subtle undertones of pain and pathos and vengeance but without any whining.

Well, I kinda like the idea of the Inquisitor being a refugee from the powderkeg of Kirkwall, being that Hawke was a refugee from Ferelden. So that would just be another British accent.

Though I have no problem with a French accent.

I am open to about any accent as long as it isn't too heavy or fake sounding, although it would be a nice change to have something other than a Ferelden accent.

Leliana's accent is beautiful! If the protags sound like that, I wouldn't mind.

But I wouldn't mind a british accent either. It's certainly better than a cheesy orlesian one.

As long as it's not Jennifer Hale's voice, I'm fine with whatever.

I would be fine with an Orlesian accent but I wouldn't mind something like a Russian, Scandinavian or Dutch accent. It would be fantastic if they got someone like Mads Mikkelsen to voice the male PC.

I would rather listen to a scouser rahter than having an Orlesian accent.

Oh, yes! This this this! I cannot stress "this" enough!
As for female PC, I really love Sharon den Adel's accent (though she's a singer, not an actress).

The reception that Orleasian accents have had over the past two games has been quite varied and the devs are aware of this. I somehow fear that they'll go the safe route and stick to good ol' mother England-speak. :? If they do, I hope they at least mix it up a little, like giving the protag an Irish or Scottish accent. Hell, even cockney works, if only to break the monotony.

I find myself leaning towards something more Tevinter'ish.

That being said, anything but yet another Fereldan accent would be excellent.

I want the PC of both genders to sound like Benecio del Toro from The Usual Suspects.
