I remember when Mass Effect 3 came out the claim was made that new comers to the series would be able to jump right in without any prior knowledge of the series. As we all saw that long time fans took a hit for the sake of the new comers. What I want to know is that will you tell people to play the first two games first then play the third or will you be doing the same to where new comers will be able to jump right in in a third of a game series?
One of my main concerns

I believe Dragon age is the sort of series where new players should be able to jump into any game.
Which the different protagonists and locations each game it makes each game almost a standalone, Mass effect was a trilogy which made that statement out of place because making the last game in the trilogy to appeal to new players is not the right game for it.

It's never a good idea to shun newcomers. How else is a series supposed to grow and thrive?

Based on some of the posts, Bioware stated that the non-import file is being presented in a way that people don't have to play previous games to understand the storyline. It was pretty much what happened with Mass Effect 3 where many companions were dead if you start the game anew. I think they will try to make the game accessible to both old and new comers.

I realize that. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to promote the first two games first so that people are already familiar with the world an story instead of sacrificing elements in the third game?

Promotion requires money and resources. Since their focus in on DA:I, why would they spend any more of those resources on promoting their old games?
I don't get the whole 'sacrificing elements' you are talking about.

The DA games have new protagonists and companions in each game with a few familiar faces littered throughout. Not as big an issue as it was with the ME trilogy.
