And I'm saying that all of that is pointless. Trying to reclaim something that is of almost no use to you know when survival should be on the top of your list is stupid. We can't say, "what if this clan had one too..." because they don't. Second, you don't need magical mirrors to protect yourself. You need competence and manpower, all of which are wasted trying to be scholars and attacking just about anything foreign coming near, which amazingly does not garner support for the Dalish cause nor does it lower hatred between races. There is literally no point to fixing the Eluvian except to feed Merrill's own pride of being able to accomplish something that no one else could do.

To the first, they seem to survive well enough. They aren't thriving or building up communities, but surviving. Well enough to look for artifacts at any rate. And while it's true that clans at the moment don't have one, they never will if no one researches them or tries to build one, which Merrill was doing. If she succeeded, she'd be heralded a hero among the Dalish, not an outcast or a pariah. Problem is that we don't know if she succeeded or failed because Merethari got herself possessed and Merrill never learned how to activate her eluvian to find out if it does or doesn't work.

To the second, it's true you don't need magical mirrors to protect yourself, but you shouldn't discard them because they do have strategic value. Say you are in a war, rather than send messengers who could eaily get intercepted and killed on route, you can simply relay intelligence or requests for reinforcements with ease, without any fear of the message getting lost on the way. The strategic value alone is valuable, which in turn can allow the commanders to make more informed decisions easier on where to send troops or which borders can have less guards than others.

There is a lot of potential there.

Where is Morrigan to talk down to both of you over this when you really need her?

Like I said to MisterJB, you are both above such petty insults.

Morrigan would most likley enjoy the entertainment that were giving her :)

True. Very well, since I romance her more often than not...actually I haven't had a playthrough where I haven't romanced her, I'll take her example and eat some popcorn.

Sure she is, if you look at the total player base population and how they reacted to her I'll stand by that comment.  If all people that dabble in the things she was dabbling in were loud or arrogant or power hungry it falls within a pretty obvious trope.  She came across as totally naive, cutesy and harmless but very soon after you meet her she uses blood magic to open up a blocked path and acts as if it is nothing.   Right there it gets the player thinking 'Is she really what she seems?'  She doesn't deviate from either the naive overly cute personailty nor the dabbling in ever increasingly nasty things.  It's a very good offset.

Cute? There are few video game characters, that I dislike as much as Merrill. She is by far the dumbest, most annoying, most obnoxious, gullible and naïve character in the series.

I've just wanted to break her hideous, insect-like face since the first time I met her:lol:

Obviously I meant presently. How would this one mirror solve the plight of the elves, which is not telecommunication. Merrill's goal is to recover their past, when really it should be about helping her people move towards the future. Ask me how many lion skinning procedures I have been trying to recover.

That's a problem afflicting the Dalish as a whole - they're so focused on their past that they can't move forward.

The refusal of the Dalish to surrender their religion or their culture isn't a flaw, and with templars hunting them down and Andrastians intolerant towards heathens, their way of life is currently a matter of survival. I'm not sure why some think the Dalish should forefeit their past.

I'm not talking about surrendering their culture - I'm talking about their resistance to change, and their failure to innovate.

News of the hour: Mister JB hates Mages. Will you stand by and watch his slaughter of men, women, and children?

News of the hour: Lord Rajin wishes to destroy the Chantry. He vows to force every Andrastian to renounce the Maker and worship the Old Gods at the point of a sword.

Because its causing stagnation and ultimately slowly killing off their culture anyway. You either adapt and change with the times or you fade away

The Dalish refusing to capitulate and convert to the Chantry isn't the problem, especially when we see how Andrastian society only permits elves to be servants, and many Andrastians view elves as less than people.

She also tries to interfer with all of my relationships, and essentinally tells me that it is selfish for me to want love rather than to become everyones Grey warden servant. That is not a cut content... oh and she wouldn't hesitate for a moment to rat you out to the templars. It didn't actually happen in the game due gamebreaking quests, but she would if she caught you using blood magic.

As for Wynne, I agree that cut content doesn't matter.  You can consider that cut scene as a part of your canon if you wish but I don't see how it matters if it didn't happen in your play through.
