Trough her conversations.
You can see she is becoming more and more fed up with Meredith.

Elthina had the power to imprison the former Viscount of Kirkwall. If she was truly getting fed up with Meredith she would've had her arrested. Why didn't she do that? Why didn't she step up and did took drastic actions? After all she was Meredith's Boss.

From what I can gather, Meredith ultimately held the military power by being leader of the templars.  This meant in a way her power exceeded Elthina's in Kirkwall.  Elthina could have possibly called for reinforcements, but she seemed paranoid that the divine would call an exhalted march for some reason.....

Meredith was exploiting her weak boss knowing that she could essentinally get away with what she was doing without consquences. She tested out her boundries and realize that she could go even further than she could imagine, and she did exactly that as each years passed.

All Anders want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools. Whats wrong with that?

Maybe the part where Anders feels mages should be entitled to kill people if they want to.
That you see no problem with that is telling.

Isn't this kind of behavior quite common in the world of Thedas?

Query: Seekers have templar abilities, correct? I am pretty sure Lambert had them in Asunder. But does that also mean that Cassandra has magic negating abilities as well?

I wouldn't say all Seekers, but the ones that are former Templars

I'm only assuming

I thought all Seekers were Templars?

I suppose the Circle wouldn't be such a bad place to live in once you've became an emotionless robot.

MisterJB vs. Lord Raijin place your bets folks!

I got 20 on JB.  That's not much of a fair wager.

Do MisterJB vs. Eluvianix.  There's a sensible discussion.

But they aren't fighting.

I do think an argument between me an Eluvianix would produce better results than one between me and Raijin. At least, it would be interesting and we would only resort to the barest minimum of name calling.

I feel rather depressed after reading this. I'm a very sad panda right now. Can you make me tranquil my dear good templar buddy old friend? I want to stop having these EMO feelings.

<cries>

Raijin, the basis of your argument is one corrupt Templar and one insane Templar. The number of corrupt mages is mountainous in comparison.

I have yet to see blood magic used responsibly.

Hawke's father used blood magic in a responsible way. He helped the grey wardens to strengthen the seals by binding Corypheus using blood magic. The seals could only be broken using the blood of one of his children as a result.

edited: Not to mention assisted in binding a few demons inside cells.

DLC I presume?

When the main game starts to focus on the mage/templar conflict and the only time you see mages not screwing up with blood magic is in a DLC there's a problem.

What about Alain (Non-DLC) who used blood magic to free either your love one or someone close to you after your fight with Grace is over with in Best Served Cold.

The Rite of Annulment is part of the Templars' duty. Kirkwall's mages were clearly out of control. Orsino willingly allowed a serial killer to run wild, murdering and experimenting on the cougars of Kirkwall. He then had the gall to murder a dozen of his own students in order to use said serial killer's research and turn himself into a horror and attempt to save his own hide.

Uh, she had the Eluvian in her house, a conduit through which an ancient pride demon could forcibly possess her, in the middle of the city.

That's not actually true, she did end up turning on Hawke, endangering countless people if she had allowed HarverstOrsino to escape.

Genocide is genocide and will be responded to as such. None of the information about Orsino is known at the time of the decision, and in the mage ending, he kills no one at all; all corpses he used were killed by templars. Additionally, his reason for not alerting Meredith about Quentin was to avoid the Annulment; I know that some blame Anders as much as Meredith for that, but those people by their own logic would be forced to commend Orsino for trying to avoid it.

Uh, she had the Eluvian in her house, a conduit through which an ancient
pride demon could forcibly possess her, in the middle of the city.

According to the word of the demon alone, whom many find oddly trustworthy.
