I'm not in this battle as a templar, and I don't care about chantry politics. I will be the leader of the most bat**** army thedas has ever been witness to, or die trying. That means doing anything to promote the most unstable forms of coexistence to ensure maximum insanity.

Either Ill be killed or put khorne and slaanesh to shame. Or both, who knows?

Actually, if you question Morrigan about it, she'll actually say the Chantry might have a point with mages or abominations being dangerous, but ultimately, that freedom's more important to her.

I never heard her saying anything about that. Do you have a transcript of this by any chance?

*sighs* It's in one of the convos you have with her about templars and the chantry in general.  It probably only appears if you specifically question her about dangers rather than agreeing with her.  I could try and scour youtube, though I assume it doesn't take too long to get the convo with her.

Then there is Janeka who was a powerful mage yet failed outright in controlling Corypheus and got herself possessed. Malcolm had to have been more powerful than her at least. But then again he was only resealing him, not trying to control him.

I think Malcolm's determination plus innate power would have made him much stronger than Janeka. Janeka couldn't see past her own pride to notice that she was being manipulated.

Can't source it since it's from the game, but the Wikia has the statement I was talking about.

http://dragonage.wik...rrigan/Approval

"It may even be true. Still, those of us who prefer freedom see no reason to submit."

@Grand Admiral Cheesecake: Well, still - hang around me, nothing seems to ****** them off more than a mage player who doesn't agree with them.

You're normally a mage player? Interesting.

Eh I'll just wait for someone to project a little too much of their RL issues onto the Mage/Templar conflict, it always leads to good things.

I side with the Mages if Bethany is in the Circle because I wouldn't want my sister to be killed for a crime she didn't committe.

Is that projecting too much?

Nah man. I treat Carver like he's my actual brother. I believe the fact that we project on to them means they are good characters.

Tbh i don't see Corypheus's defeat of Janeka as a sign that Malcolm is a superior mage. Aside from reinforcing the seals of Cory's prison, and being mentioned as a competent mercenary Malcolm barely has any feats.

I think it is more that She has the Taint and Malcom does not.

To each their own opinion. I honestly think he would have wiped the floor with Janeka.

I doubt any run of the mill
mage could do it. There are so many apostates to choose from, including
among the Grey Wardens so I don't think that's the only trait they were
looking for.

They specifically said that a Grey Warden mage couldn't do it because of the Taint.

Hazegurl wrote...

I have no clue. It could just be a "plot reason" or more to it. But IMO it makes no sense to do so much to get Malcolm to do it if any mage could. Why threaten his wife?

The Wardens can recruit mages at will. Why not just recruit one and make him reseal it then let him go through the joining after?

Then there is Janeka who was a powerful mage yet failed outright in controlling Corypheus and got herself possessed. Malcolm had to have been more powerful than her at least. But then again he was only resealing him, not trying to control him.

Janeka had the Taint, which is what Corypheus was using to manipulate her.  It had nothing to do with her being a mage, weak willed or otherwise.  She was subject to Corypeus' version of the Calling.  Larius was suffering the same thing, with different symptoms.

Malcolm was untainted, and thus immune.

@eluvianix: It would be more accurate to say that I am - when available - exclusively a mage player (Biotics, psionics, supernatural powers, mutant - whatever else they want to call a mage derivative in other games).

I truly hope that makes for an interesting reaction from the mage rebels in Inquisition.

"How dare you be X and be against Y, you must die!"

While if you specialize Templar and fight other Templars they'll say.

"How dare you be A and be against B, you must die!"

@Grand Admiral Cheesecake: Well - I hope it's a LITTLE more interesting than that. LOL

I hope a few: "You traitor!"  "Your people!"  "How could you?!" "You're the reason!"  "Uncle Tom!"

No, not at all. This is gonna be weird, but when I see people on here, I just assign them a class in my head based on the way they speak and structure their arguments. I see EmperorSahlertz as a duty bound two handed warrior and Xilizhra as a practical blood mage, Lord Raijin as a mage who is best friends with Adrian, etc. I had just pegged you for a sword and sheild warrior, that's all. Although, I guess, appearances can be deceiving lol.
