@Grand Admiral Cheesecake: Well - I hope it's a LITTLE more interesting than that. LOL

I hope a few: "You traitor!"  "Your people!"  "How could you?!" "You're the reason!"  "Uncle Tom!"

You may have one "How could you" or two "You traitors".

Well, they could also be armored nuns and cardinals.

Raisins are why we can't have nice things.  Mages are probably at fault.

I have no clue. It could just be a "plot reason" or more to it. But IMO it makes no sense to do so much to get Malcolm to do it if any mage could. Why threaten his wife?

The Wardens can recruit mages at will. Why not just recruit one and make him reseal it then let him go through the joining after?

Then there is Janeka who was a powerful mage yet failed outright in controlling Corypheus and got herself possessed. Malcolm had to have been more powerful than her at least. But then again he was only resealing him, not trying to control him.

Malcolm was free of the Chantry and had made himself known by 1) being a mercenary, 2) eloping with a prominent noblewoman, and 3) having the Templars on his ass.

Going after him would be much better then going after a Circle mage. What would've happened if the Wardens went to the Kirkwall Circle, which IIRC was under Meredith's jurisdiction at this time, and said "Hey, we need a non-Warden Mage to help us with something, but we can't tell you what it is!"?

They'd have been refused, more then likely.

And they couldn't use a Warden mage for it because Corypheus controls people through the taint.

I'm sort of hoping he's the voice actor for the human male Inquisitor

Nicholas Boulton, the voice of Male Hawke, voiced Malcolm Hawke. So doubtful.

No, not at all. This is gonna be weird, but when I see people on here, I just assign them a class in my head based on the way they speak and structure their arguments. I see EmperorSahlertz as a duty bound two handed warrior and Xilizhra as a practical blood mage, Lord Raijin as a mage who is best friends with Adrian, etc. I had just pegged you for a sword and sheild warrior, that's all. Although, I guess, appearances can be deceiving lol.

And what do you see me as?

The right of conscription i think allows the wardens to pretty much drag off anybody exept an acting head of state. So if the Wardens want to grab Orsino before he was the first enchanter, make him seal Corypheus up they could THEN make him do the Joining ritual.

I doubt any run of the mill
mage could do it. There are so many apostates to choose from, including
among the Grey Wardens so I don't think that's the only trait they were
looking for.

They specifically said that a Grey Warden mage couldn't do it because of the Taint.

Janeka had the Taint, which is what Corypheus was using to manipulate her.  It had nothing to do with her being a mage, weak willed or otherwise.  She was subject to Corypeus' version of the Calling.  Larius was suffering the same thing, with different symptoms.

Malcolm was untainted, and thus immune.

But the Wardens could have recruited any mage and had him/her reseal him before taking the joining. It wouldn't have been that difficult to do.

Really? His voice sounds so different as Malcolm..at least I think. Oh well, I hope the Inquisitor's voice is equally deep and sexy. Posted Image

Sure, they could have tried that.  But it appears time was a factor, and then you'd have to worry about a stubborn mage saying no and running out the clock, or a Jory situation/failed Joining after.  Malcolm was convenient and succeptable to irresistable pressure.  Sure, they could have picked up any mage off the street and then killed him after if they wanted to, but they ultimately didn't want to have to kill anyone.  Really, Malcolm's situation made him the perfect choice, not his abilities.
