What annoys me about Anders is that you can't tell him to take a hike from the start, with a boot to his backside to send him out the door. I would have loved to have left his corpse in a ditch somewhere, but I understand the plot called for him to be a terrorist. Still, there's no reason for the PC to have to tolerate him.

I love that you can report him to Cullen and nothing happens.

Anders is the opposite of selfless. All he cares about is his own motives, hence him potentially manipulating Hawke, throwing the mages to the lions, and generally only caring about his own issues and no one elses.

His motives for the good of so many others, note.

DA:A Anders was someone working for the good of others. DA2 Anders is a whiny, narcissistic annoyance. Bombing a Chantry in order to incite change will no doubt bring about numerous Mage deaths and executions as a show of force.

Yeah, a lot of good he's doing. I don't like the Templars, but damn, the Mages need a better voice than the complaining and whining of Anders.

Fighting mages, not demons.

You don't follow the Templars all over Kirkwall so you don't know what they have been fighting aside from the times you were with them and considering the fact that the city is brought back under control whether you side with Mages and leave the city or not, it pretty much means that they did get the city under control from the demons.

Anders is remarkably selfless. It's something Justice instilled.

Funny that he needs a spirit to make him selfless.
But anyway, I see him as selfish no matter what. He works in the clinic for protection, is ready to ditch it for Hawke's estate, lies to Hawke, only focused on things that revolve around him, and even in the end couldn't stop being selfish for one moment and opted for death.

Because they both unapologetically want each other dead.

And yet Fenris refuses to join Sebastian in his desire to want to turn Anders in. Like I said. Fenris has class unlike Anders who has shown to be a very small and petty man.

Which makes Fenris such an awesome character. He'll help out the mages out of respect for his friend/lover even if he thinks it's a bad idea. Ask Anders to set aside his own grudges to lessen the damage if you side with the Templars and he'll have a b**ch fit before you either murder knife him or let him go.

He'll only do that if you kiss his ass. I've helped this elf out by killing his former master, and he still betrayed me at the end because I refuse to give in to this POS. He does nothing but slam the mages throughout my game.

DAA Anders was a self-admitted selfish coward. Sort of like Rincewind but flashier and more charming. By DA2, he's turned into a zealous freedom fighter whose methods can be disagreed with, but whose devotion to the cause of freedom cannot be impugned.

Someone did. Whether or not it's them is uncertain, but not likely.

He doesn't ditch the clinic, just stops living in it. And he has literally no personal aspirations; he is the cause of mages.

And yet Fenris refuses to join Sebastian in his desire to want to turn Anders in. Like I said. Fenris has class unlike Anders who has shown to be a very small and petty man.

Fenris only doesn't want to betray Hawke personally; he'd kill Anders in an instant if they were both separated from Hawke.

I believe he helps you even if you rival him. Can't say the same for Anders.

A zealous freedom frighter who:

1. Does nothing in dialogue but preach and whine his cause and make creepy flirt-remarks to Hawke.
2. Blow up buildings, risking innocent lives, risking Mage lives, risking Hawke's life, for his cause.
3. Annoyingly change his personality 180 degrees.

Sounds more like your typical fedora-wearing college "Communist" activist.

If he represents the methods of the Mages, I can see why some people support the Templars.

He seems to only represent his own methods, perhaps in part due to his whole support network being wiped out by Meredith. Probably another factor in his desperation in Act 3.

You can disagree with his methods, but it doesn't make the templars right.

That Anders is devoted to a cause doesn't make him any less selfish..

You are so goddamn full of bull**** that it is unbelievable.... Who in the name of **** else would it have been, that fought the demons in the city? The City Guard are not equiped for such matters, so while they probably did fight some demons, it is obious that it is the Templars who brought order back to Kirkwall after the uprising. You obvious bias is so friggin aweful, that you can't even admit that the Templars actually cleaned up the mess some mages created? Pathetic. Just ****ing pathetic...

Fenris would never kill Anders, for as long as Hawke associates with him. The very second though that Hawke permitted it, then Fenris would kill Anders gladly.

@dragonflight288: The pillaging and plundering is also a great way to get non-mages to hate them. Despite the assertions of a few people on the grounds of morality - I still think that there's next to zero reason for the mundanes to support the mages.

But, if the Templars show their colors - then the mundanes won't readily support anyone.

And that's a good thing .

Hmm.

Out of curiosity, if you may indulge me, why would it be a good thing if the mundanes offer no real support to either side?

Yes, the only power in Kirkwall had nothing at all to do with its restoration. Posted Image

IMO, If Anders was all about his clinic then he should freaking stay there too instead of dropping hints that his life is suddenly in danger from Templars(with no evidence) just so he can try to stay in Hawke's estate. All of his personal aspirations are self absorbed even onto the destruction of other mages. Yeah he is the cause all right, the cause of mages dying.

Fenris only doesn't want to betray Hawke personally; he'd kill Anders in an instant if they were both separated from Hawke.

Who lied to Hawke? Not Fenris. Who used Hawke? Not Fenris.

Who had the chance to betray his enemy and yet refused? Fenris.

Anders isn't running things, so the question isn't much of a problem.

The city guard is protecting innocents, the templars are willingly dancing to the mad tune of red lyrium and its avatar. And it was a mess the templars set up and allowed to happen, by putting a Circle in Kirkwall to begin with, then forcing horrible conditions on its prisoners (a theme echoed in The Last Straw directly, when the templars are seen outright creating an abomination), and then slaughtering mages enough that it tears the Veil further to allow more demons through. This is not the mess of mages, it's in part Anders and the rest templars.

Fenris is such a loving character isn't he? He hates slavery so much, yet he hasn't done 1 fricken thing about it but to complain about how he was mistreated by his former master. He goes on a mage hating spree all without the game.

If Fenris had class then how come he doesn't return back to the Tevinter Imperium to create an underground group (Very much like the mage underground) and build himself an army of slaves who shares the same value as he does? If he hates slavery that much then why doesn't he fight for HIS freedom and the freedom of other slaves in the Tevinter Imperium? He does NOTHING.

While Anders do try to ask you for help to collect some ingredients... if you refuse he still does it anyways with or without Hawkes assistance. Hes very independent when it comes to his causes.

This is what give Anders far more class than the whiny little Elf who does nothing.

Yes, the only power in Kirkwall had nothing at all to do with its restoration.

They played a large part in bringing it down to begin with, so I'm not impressed.

That's all templars. It's always been all templars.

Who lied to Hawke? Not Fenris. Who used Hawke? Not Fenris.

Actually, he does both in Bait and Switch.

Who had the chance to betray his enemy and yet refused? Fenris.

Anders never even tries, only says one line.

Nope, it's been more or less retconned, or Alistair was mistaken and Duncan had just been spiking his drinks with Lyrium.  It happens. :wizard:
