Templars are known for their insecurity issues. Are you afraid to engage of a debate with a bunch of pro mages as a pro templar?

Extremists, extremist everywhere.
I really don't get the hate for Templars from the ultra-pro mages here.

Even Morrigan was very, very fond of my handsome, young Templar Warden in DA:O;)

What debate? You draw a line in the sand, label people and everyone on your side is always right everyone on the other side is always wrong.

That's not a debate its children on the playground.

Why? I lost all sympathy for the mage cause in DA2 (playing as a mage, no less), and I don't see that changing anytime soon, especially with all the current rhetoric being spewed by the pro-mage camp. I find it ironic you guys do a more effective job swaying me to the other team than the pro-templars do.

Considering Morrigan does not really react to your character having Templar abilities, that doesn't say much. :innocent:

Well, I sided with the Templars on every occasion and even helped the Chantry out quite often. She doesn't object, in fact she even believes the Circle mages deserve death.

I suppose you also lost all sympathy for the templars because of what you've seen in DA2 too right? They were far from being the protagnotist in the game.

I didn't have any sympathy for them to begin with. However, by the time the end of the 3rd act rolled around, I was more than happy to join the lesser of the two evils - the one that doesn't view mundanes as batteries.

DA2 really needed a screw this I'm leaving option. Since the conflict went full retard in act 3.

Templars need new leadership and need to be more tolerant of the mages under their charges. Mages should be equally on board with hunting down mages who turn to criminals and abominations.

You ain't kidding. To this day, I don't know why Hawke is supposed to be such an important figure, when he/she has next-to-no impact on events.

That's not what my character saw. And since the game is about my character reacting to events...yea, lesser of two evils.

My Hawke did'nt believe every blood mage she fought represented all of the mages in Kirkwall.Considering she was a blood mage herself Saria view all of the crazy mages as being weak because they let themselves be controlled by their power.

Okay, then look at Bethany and Merrill. Both are mages who knew the dangers of magic and yet they did'nt go crazy like the vast number of apostates in Kirkwall.

*shrug* My mage avoided blood magic like the plague, never saw a good reason for it, experienced first hand what it was like to have it turned against her and family, and had every attempt to help the "poor victims" of the Templars blow up in her face. So, when Meredith wanted to kill some mages, she was on board with it - especially since I wasn't playing a stupid Hawke and had figured out who the serial killer had been working with.

@cjones91: To be fair - a mage could look out for him/herself far better than the average peasant.

No, of course it doesn't justify brutality against mages and no, it doesn't make their life more valuable.

But a mage has more agency to be his/her own advocate... especially against another mage.

Against a mage - a peasant is in need of someone who would look out for him/her.

This is one of the reasons my mage Inquisitor will be looking to crush the mage rebellion.
