So once again we go the route of it being perfectly acceptable for the mages to commit atrocities (usually against non-templars) because of the templars.

His actions were perfectly in character for him.

Are we talking about Anders or vengeance?

Hmm, I don't recall ever saying this. Can someone bring up the posts where I defend the templars more extreme actions without being tongue in cheek?

I'm far too lazy to be going on a treasure hunt.

Templars were commiting far more crimes against the people of Kirkwall more than the mages. The fact that theirs so many blood mages proves it.

What? The fact that there is so many evil mages proves the templars are worse than mages?

Once again, focus on Anders' (would be) crime. What on Earth does Alrik's crime have to do with Anders (attempted) murder of an innocent mage?

What does one crime have to do with another? Are you saying that no one should care about getting rapists off the streets until all the murderers are locked away? That's silly. Both are criminals responsible for there own crimes and should be held accountable for their actions.

So let me get this straight. A mage who uses blood magic is automatically considered evil?

Evil or stupid. Or both. The only exception (with some leeway) would be Avernus.

It's one thing to use it once but Malcom Hawke didn't make it a regular practice of being a blood mage.

Using blood magic to help others or fight the darkspawn is far from selfish.

Calenhad Theirin a warrior who practices the art of blood magic by drinking dragon blood to wield extra power = Becomes King and gets a lake named after him in his honor.

A mage who practices the art of blood magic = Gets hunted down by the templars and gets slain because it's evil.

Tbh if Calenhad were alive then the Chantry would have him executed for using blood magic,To them everything that involves blood is evil.

I'm not really seeing anything inherently "good" in Calanhad's actions.

They should execute themselves for using phylacteries (blood magic) to track down Circle mages who escaped from the Circle.

Being a reaver doesn't grant you the same abilities as a blood mage. WHich is the main thing that causes the Chantry and the people at large to fear and hunt them.

It's also of note that a non-mage using blood magic isn't any more at risk of possession than any other non-mage.

But it does grant the user super human abilities by using dragon blood. The Chantry does'nt even know the differences between Spirit Healers and those who contact demons so they would instantly label Calenhad a blood mage if they knew the true story.

Reaver: Life is power. Blood Mages know this, but they
are not the only ones. Warriors can also command the energy that flows
through blood and bone, but it is not an easy path. The Reaver
specialization trades pain for strength in a constant balance of selfish
sacrifice. At first it seems that Reavers are doing the work of their
enemies, damaging themselves in gruesome fashion. But Reavers can
transform their own living essence into raw damage, and then replenish
that health by stealing the life from their foes. It’s a dangerous
gamble that counts on added strength to destroy enemies before incoming
attacks or the Reavers’ own abilities kill them. At its best, the Reaver
specialization results in a brutal harmony. The closer they are to
their own deaths, the more efficient they are at inflicting the same on
others.

None of that says that they gain all the same abilities as blood mages. Mostly because blood mages are mages. They also can't control other peoples' minds or sacrifice others peoples' lives to create a massively destructive spell.

Reavers can drain a person's life force.
