The history between mages and non-mages is one of small periods of peace in an endless chain of hatred. They're already killing each other. If the number of mages increase, all that will lead to is bloodier battles.

That is total crap Lotion. The minority in this game simply does not want to be oppressed and hated for being born as they are.
It has nothing to do with "appreciation"

Which is understandable but they may as well wish for self-replinishing baskets of bread.
The inhabitants of Thedas have always striven for dominance over each other: humans over elves, Tevinter over everyone else, orlesians over fereldens and yes, mages over non-mages.
For a thousand years, the mages were dominant; then the non-mages rebelled and have been dominants in their areas of Thedas ever since. Now the mages are rebelling and it remains to be seen if they will dominate for another period of time or if the non-mages will keep their position.
And then, in a decade, a century, a millenia, mages and non-mages will fight each other again for dominance. And again, and again, etc.

Honestly, at leas the non-mages tried to do their best for the mages. Even today, non-mages in Tevinter are luggage, no different from a chair or a table. They aren't living in luxurious towers where their needs are provided for and are given political representation.

I get what you are saying, but I am referring to the average, everyday mage, not the ones who want mage supremacy. I am just making the argument for mages who just want to be treated fairly, and justly.

Wait. Is Rylock the Grey Warden in Awakening? No offense, but I'd honestly say she had every right to attack the Grey Wardens after the Grey Warden Commander blatantly went into the warehouse where the Chantry's blood tracker bottles were completely going against the Grey Warden's neutrality pact. Any Grey Warden that actually wanted to keep to that philosiphy would have told Anders 'no' the moment he asked about it.

Shhhhhh! The use of logic is a banable ofense on BSN.

And don't forget the counterargument: There were no phylacteries. It was all a trap to lure Anders.

lol

Indeed. But the second that the Warden Commander went along with Anders' idea he had chosen a side. WHich would be strictly against Warden policy.

Nah, he is just protecting one of his/her own, as a friend or a commander. Siding with Anders does not necessarily mean you are choosing a side.

Anders would be destroying Chantry property. The Warden would be actively helping. The Chantry would be allowed to defend its property.

True, the Warden Commander of all people should have remained out of it. Grey Wardens are neutral, destroying phylacteries is not a neutral act. The warden Commander better be lucky the Chantry didn't decide to boot them out again for doing that.

No, I just meant it in the sense that you are helping a friend, outside of the whole debate of mages vs. templars.

And how were they going to do that?Fereldan would have kicked the Chantry out instead especially if the Warden is King/Queen.

Except the Chantry has no dominion over the Wardens.

No, they are bred like prized cattle. Much better.

nor are they forcibly removed of all emotions if they are deemed weak, and nor are they slaughtered in a sanctioned genocide for the actions of others.

Mages can do WHATEVER they wish to non-mages in the Imperium and there is not a single law protecting them.
At least mages have rights in Andrastian lands; for instance, no mage may be made Tranquil if he or she has passed the Harrowing.
Where is the law saying a slave owner can't use his or her slaves if she feels she needs some blood sacrifices? It doesn't exist.

I'm ok with helping a friend but no one will see it that way since there are two GW involved, and one of them has a reputation of running away. That's just endagering the organization.

Ferelden is not particularly fond of Grey Wardens either. Though recent events might have endeared the populace a bit more. Still teh sudden rise to power the Grey Wardens ahve done in Ferelden, is sure to leave a bad taste in the mouth of Ferelden nobles.

Cullen says more mages are being born every day,if we were to predict the numbers then for 20 non mage familys  atleast a sizable number will have mages born into them.I'm simply making the point that the Chantry won't be able to lock every mage up because it's impossible.

Not really since the Warden saved their skin from the darkspawn. In some of the endings he/she becomes a local celebrity so Fereldan would'nt sell their hero down the river just because the Chantry said so.

But as a representative of a group with certain values you have to be more mindful of your actions and recognize how it makes not only you but your entire organization look. You can't just say you were doing a solid for a friend and get away with it. Any Warden Commander who helps Anders is jeopardizing their entire organization by getting themselves involved with the government.  What if it wasn't a trap and Anders destroys every bottle in the room? The Wardens would be facing a major incident.

They certainly do in Amaranthine. My dwarf noble thinks nothing of putting them down if they act out of line (aka, revolting and plotting to kill him.)

They must be terrible mages to be demoted so low. Otherwise, I feel like Tevinter would cultivate and snatch up magical talent in a heartbeat.

Well, if Sandal's prophecy is right, we might be getting a fully magical world very soon.

Calling it "mage supremacy" is a bit simplistic.
Social groups fight for dominance in every society and the soldiers are everyday people with everyday businesses, not maniacs like Tahrone.

And all things considered, the Divine did her job. She helped the mages who she felt were being oppressed during Lambert's lockdown when Pharamond was retrieved.

So, the well being of the dozen First Enchanters Lambert imprisioned takes precedence over the lives of the thousands that will die in this war?

The war that would have happened anyway, should the divine do anything her subordinate the knight commander didn't like. I believe when a person orders you to stand down, it's your job to stand down. Not doing so makes him as much a insubordinate traitor as a mage would be disobeying a templars orders to not fight against them.

It's also possible they were born a slave. Mage slaves are still given training, and thus more opportunities to rise up and earn freedom or become a magisters apprentice.

Mages still have more opportunities to rise than non-mages, but I think it's important to point out all relevant facts based on the little we know without going there ourselves, rather than paint the whole country under one brush.

For example, do we know what kind of entertainment the citizens of Tevinter enjoy? Do they go to plays, or gladiator rings? Do they have Olympics of some kind or engage in Athenian style debates (this one is VERY unlikely.)

We know they practice blood magic, the Circle runs the political arena, have a Black Divine who can be male, and an Archon who heads their senate. And they're constantly at war with the Qunari. And they're slavers.
