Destroy is not even free of Reaper influence -- the mass-relays and Citadel are shown being put back together. It's half-assed, if you ask me. Like, "we'll take these gifts they gave us, but other than that... NOOOOO!!!!" Go big or go home, IMO!

Destroying the relays means destroying the star system they're in. The relays are only damaged but reparable in all high EMS options, but their power sources are intact, otherwise they would've eradicated everything in the vicinity in their demise.

Saren was not going to achieve Sync, he was going to get the outcome of Refuse!

Also, he looked to the Reapers to give it to him. End of ME3 just uses the Crucible to achieve it.

And you're begging the question: if that it's the same thing as his goal from ME1, what about the visions? Anderson shoots the tube, TIM grabs the rods, why no Saren into the beam?? If you thought of it that way, why didn't Shepard?

I either support utilizing their know-how for ourselves, or I don't. I do. Therefore, I take the whole shebang.

I take that up with the writers. They forgot to put Saren there, if you ask me. Instead the representative becomes the Catalyst itself. But it's just regurgitating Saren's lines. "The relationship is symbiotic, organic and machine intertwined, a union of flesh and steel, the strengths of both, the weaknesses of neither!"

Simple. EA didn't want to pay Microsoft the royalties for the use of Saren's image in that scene. Now I know there are those of you who are going to say Bioware owns the image...

In the Original Ending there was no image for synthesis. It was supposed to be "new and fresh".

Whatever he envisioned doesn't change the fact he wasn't going to achieve it.

Refuse is closer to Saren's path than Sync ever was.

Saren also looked to the Reapers to give it to "achieve" it. Shepard does not, he uses his own device (the Crucible).

Synthesis is explicitly put on a pedestal. I think Saren probably fell for a similar hope. For me, that's enough to cause spite. Screw the ideal. Better to deal with life the hard way.

Shepard is the avatar, IMO. As of Project Lazarus, he *is* organic and machine intertwined.

Sync works when we achieve it ourselves. That the Reapers recognize this themselves is merely incidental.

If you want life "the hard way" then go live in a teepee. Everything invented makes life easier. What? Yeah, I didn't think so.

And let me ask you this. Are Hard Drives alive? No. Do many of them have data? Yes. Therefore you can get data and information from dead things. There's a field called forensics. One gets information from dead things. There's also an field called cyberforensics. We could pry knowledge out them. Sorry I win.
