Doesn't matter, I'll buy DA:I solely for multiplayer.

well not to offend anyone, but bioware are known for their writing and storytelling in single player RPGs.so..dont hold your breath that multiplayer will get their entire focus.if anything it will be closer to phantasy star universe than the old republic.

Since ME2, there storytelling powers started to vanish. I still can't finish DA2.

Metacritic User Reviews is what I'll be going buy, and definately not pre-ordering like I have with every other Bioware game. If the game, as I expect it to be, is a lump of trash, they'll put it up on Metacritic as honest as ever. PC Gamer maybe I'll wait for to actually see why its going to get 1/10 2/10s on there.

Mind you, DA2 was awful, yet Origins was good so I was dissapointed
ME3 was a absolutely horrendous, yet ME1 & 2 were very good, so I was dissapointed.

DA2 and ME3 have both been crap, so maybe this will be decent, if not I doubt the ending and RP aspects could be worse than ME3, and the general game couldn't be worse than DA2.... So there could be a silver lining.

Because holding off on buying ME3 was one of the wisest business decisions I've made lately. After being burned by DA2 and TOR, I couldn't justify buying ME3 day 1. Same goes with this.

I want DA3 to be good. I would love it to be as good or better than DA:O. But frankly, professional reviewers have long-since proven that they overinflate their reviews for AAA titles. I doubt alot of those people who like DA2 more than DA:O would agree that DA2 deserved the 9.5/10s it got. And while I also don't think DA2 deserves the 2/10s it got from users on metacritic, they were definitely an indicator that DA2 didn't live up to people's expectations. That' why in cases like this, I cant justify buying DA3 before looking at user reviews.

Anyone else think this way?

Yep. ME3 burned me good. Which is a shame because it has alot of things going for it. Apart from an insane drive to develop and implement new gameplay elements. Instead, ME goes the way of the chop saw where anything gamers say they don't like get's cut. It wasn't so bad in ME2 but ME3 got ripped for stuff to do during and after missions. And what was there got pretty samey.

That said. DA:I (And if BW are listening, the time to say ME4 is not ME4 is after you release the game's title.......DA:(not 3)Inquisition anyone?) looks to have been given a breath of new ideas which fills me with hope.

But DA:I will stand or fall on how those ideas are carried in the game. Hoping Hoping Hoping! But I need to know more before I take a commitment to pre-order. And knowing more will come from the fans. Though harsh and sometimes rabid, they are the most honest bunch of game reviewers you ever hope to meet online.

Which part - the composite of other site reviews (what, are they cherry picking what sites they use?) or the composite of user-posted reviews?

The former I'd say is hard-pressed to compare to Fox at all.

The latter only in the sense that you sense you might be getting skewed results - but, again, is that Metacritic's fault like it is Fox's fault?  No.

Honestly, despite there being the times when a group online decides to review-bomb a product, you are pretty safe taking those user reviews at face value.  Some are going to be garbage, but the aggregate will be useful information.

For the site-reviews meta-critic works with a 0-100 score and I cant think of any sites that use a similar scale. Its either 0-5 or 0-10 so it gets rounded to whatever is closest and then averaged in. I don't think there is anything malevolent about it but for me for the metacritc scores to be used as evidence for anything I find it dishonest.

Its not a accurate measure of what was actually said. That's just my opinion. It can be a nice barometer if someone is looking at a game but always be taken with a grain of salt.

Well since we are on BIoWares site, talking about BioWares games and whether or not to use metacritic. Then I know I am getting skewed results.  I agree its not Metacritic's fault. I am more then happy to point the finger at the extremists that use it for a tool to push their agenda when it suits them.

And at this point when it comes to BioWares games its worthless since they will be bombed the moment the polls open just like every release since DA2.

I think for the aggregate user-reviews are worthless since they will be skewed by the extremes. The useful information will be gained when someone wades thru the river of filth to find and read the written reviews

Of course my own opnion is skewed since I generally think review scores are worthless.

In conclusion: My comparison of Metacritc and Fox was heavy handed.

But the scores don't mean anything because of what they're tying it to. A 2/10 for one user might be, on the same criteria, a 6/10 for another. And 6/10 might mean something totally different for me (as a buyer) than for you.

I think reading the user reviews is really valuable, and I always do it now (on multiple sites), but thats a different view from scores themselves, alone or in agreggate.

This is why I say people, instead of just dismissing user and critic reviews, need to develop the very handy skill of being able to PARSE said reviews for useful data.

That said, yes, you are absolutely right.  The scores are next to useless.  Read what the reviewer says, and hopefully you can grasp what you need from it regardless of their chosen score number.

For example, there are movie critics I disagree with quite frequently but know how to read their reviews to see if a movie will work for me.  They don't like certain things I do, or really like certain things I don't - so when I see their opinions swayed by those things, I know it's likely I'll be the opposite of their stated view.

Love the Angry Joe reviews!

Saying that I am going to avoid the reviews and probably BSN when the game comes out, so I can play it sans spoilers and make up my own mind.

Good idea.
Don't understand why someone would buy DAI just for multiplayer. Makes me wonder if they're an fps player and not an rpg player
shrugs.
I expect a lot of reviews online from players and independent websites. I don't trust the big corporate reviewers.

I always buy BioWare games, because I always enjoy them to some extent. Some more than others. So no, won't be waiting for reviews, which I rarely trust anyway - user or critic.

Haven't decided yet. I would like to wait for a little while to see how players react to it, but I have two brothers who like the series and asked me to pre-order it for them. So... we shall see when I here more stuff about the game.

I'm going to wait and see and make a decision a bit closer to release date. I don't play ME so I can't comment on that but DA2 was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't a bad game, it just wasn't a good game either. It was sort of 'meh'. I'm going to wait for the gameplay videos, more information and maybe even a demo and then I'll make my decision about whether I pre-order, buy day 1 or wait until the price drops.

Same. I love the hell out of DA2 and honestly don't get the absolutely hyperbolic frothing hate some people have for it. If I'd listened to their opinions, I wouldn't have bought a game that I really enjoyed. So i don't give a toss about other people's opinions of things I am interested in. I'll try it myself.

I was considering rethinking my position after Bioware announced Inquisition would have another year of development... but no.

After two letdowns in a row I'll be waiting for user reviews before I even think about buying. I can wait a couple weeks after waiting a year.
