Anyone else going to wait for user reviews before buying this?

While it wasn't as atrocious as some made it out to be, it wasn't worthy of a pre-order either. Think I got it at exactly the right time, considering its quality.
I'll do the same with DAI... I will wait, and watch... and see if they get my interest.

you just need to find a reviewer that has the same sort of views in games,
Try angeryjoe, at least for me he seems look at it the same way I do
Totalbiscuit is normally my yardstick. If he says something is dripping with awesome, its a must-buy.
His listing of the positives and negatives of DA2 based on the demo were spot on, IMO.

Nope. I've enjoyed all DA and ME games, and I don't expect this one to be any less entertaining. DA2 and ME3 weren't nearly as disappointing to me as it seems they were to the majority of BSN users, so I don't feel betrayed or fooled by Bioware.
Same for me ^^

This time definitly no pre-order, even if the game looks great at previews, dev diaries, other gameplay videos prior to release.
I'm going to wait til some detailed and reasonable player reviews and the only "prof" review I give some weight to from my favourite site show up, likely followed by watching a small amount of "let's play"s and then decide to buy or not.

Day one purchase (collector's if available). Enjoyed both previous DA, this one should be no different.
This. DA:O is one of my favorite games of all time, and I very much liked DA2. My biggest beef with it was the reused maps, but the game did so many other things well, like combat, companions, and dialogue, that I still enjoy playing it regardless. And don't even get me started on DA2's DLC's. Those are spectacular and proved to me that the Dragon Age team knows what they're doing and are capable of using criticism to turn their weaknesses into strengths.
I suppose I could let my hatred of ME3 influence my decision negatively, but a lot of what I didn't like about ME3 was writing-related. I didn't like how they wrote Shepard with more specific motivations and emotions, and how those+ autodialogue eliminated decisions and dialogue options that I thought I should have. But I've read David Gaider's blogs and forum posts enough to understand how his approach to writing a protagonist (and everything else in a game, for that matter) differs. I feel confident that the biggest issues I have with ME3 won't occur in DA3.
And finally, the Dragon Age team strikes me as more humble than the Mass Effect team. ME3 people keep talking about how awesome their product is and they dismiss criticisms and negative opinions of the game as being "vocal minority." Which may be the case, but why would I want to buy another game from people who won't admit they did things wrong, when they clearly did? DA2 was far from a commercial failure too, but the DA team has accepted criticisms with humility, and they've already demonstrated that they can improve on their game's flaws with the DA2 DLC. I have no doubt that their design will continue to improve as they work on DA:I, especially since they have almost a year and a half of extra development time than what they were originally stating. That's extremely good since most of the problems with DA2, and to a lesser extent ME3, were a result of their short development schedules. If people don't think the DA team is going to produce something amazing with the ammount of development time they have, they're in for a surprise.

The ending fiasco of ME:3 though threw me for a loop - whoever decided that ending was a good idea for an epic series needs to taken to the wood shed.
Now add that the new engine seems to make modding about as likely as winning the lottery, for the first time ever, I am in doubt about a day one purchase of a Bioware game. However, I really want the next installment to be a resounding success for them and an incredible game for we players.
But whoever made the final decisions on certain things (companion customization, artistic design, framed narrative with time gaps, ugly elves, etc.) does not share the same vision that I have of what makes a great game. As we get closer to release and see more of what the game will be like, it is very possible to convince me to pre-order.
I can be convinced.
I want to be convinced.
Please convince me?
