I've never encountered so much hostility and rudeness on any other forum, so I was actually very taken aback when people would reply to my comments calling me an idiot (and now I'm ignorant too, wow thank you very much caineghis, so nice of you) and using actual swear words! I'm not offended, just surprised.

Though it might not seem like it, this place is alot more productive than most forums and if you actually need help with anything regarding the game, there are tons of guides floating around and people are more than willing to answer your questions and provide useful insight. 

It just happens that alot of us get bored very easily and need to entertain ourselves inbetween bouts of helpfulness, and it usually manifest itself via lots of inside joke references that newbies don't get and even more pretend rudeness.

Not really. Platinum isn't much different from gold when you're using good kits or equipment. I find the last gold waves easiest to solo because bosses are so stupid.

I bet I know who that is. And that sounds like a grand idea. I'm slowly accepting the fact that the S.P.E.C.T.R.E.s are just simply a tier above me and I just don't really have the skill to be one (or if I made it in, I'd be on the lowest tier of "worthy" and I would probably feel embarrassed for myself constantly).

I've improved a LOT over the past months, but I've just simply hit my skill ceiling, I think. Pretty much a Gold PUG pub star, but can't really run with the big dogs on Plat. I'm okay with that.

Don't be like that. I think sometimes, our limits are mostly psychological. I know that was what held me back before I joined the Spectres. In fact, didn't you say that you play ME3MP drunk most of the time? That's pretty amazing in my book.
