There were SO MANY awkward silences in this game with dialogue. So many, that I am thoroughly convinced that it's simply awful sound editing....which just reinforces my long-standing claim that the game was rushed and lacked the polish it needed before release.
To be fair though, dialogue timing is pretty bad in most games. For some reason, it seems tough to always get it straigt with the animations and everything. The ME series is actualy one of the better examples when it comes to this (which it should be, given its focus on cinematic presentation). Nobody is perfect though.
Also, I have seen Mark Meer's "STEEEEEVE!!!" seen here often. Just whatch any of MM's interviews concerning ME3 to hear the story behind that line, it's kinda funny.
As for cringe worthy lines, there are heaps of them. Let's stick to one example from each game that has not yet been mentioned (unless I missed it):
ME1: Turian Councilor: "This evidence is irrefutable." (uh ... ok thanks but ... why?)
ME2: Jacob (to Tali, after a rather hostile first meeting): "Oh and don't forget to introduce yourself to EDI, the ship's artificial intelligence." (this one needs a head slap renegade interrupt)
ME3: "So ... the Illusive Man was right after all..."
ok, at least for that one, I think we got a renegade option in the EC, so here is another from the EC:
Shepard "Normandy, I need an evac, now!" (really Shep, NOW you need an evac? What about the countless times your squad mates (including the LI) went down in combat? And NOW, that everything is on the line, you want to stop the absolutely mad rush for the beam and call in the ship for an evac?)
