Hi, I have installed Windows 7 and now the game is running extremely slow
with a terrible framerate. Before I could run it on high details and it was
fine. Is there a solution?
I have a core 2 duo 6600, with 3gb of Ram and a nvidia 8800 gtx
Windows 7 and slow framerate

Did you install the latest drivers on your Windows 7 installation? I'm running it on Windows 7 with a GeForce 8 card and it runs fine.

How long is it since you've installed Win 7? As it seems like a fresh install, you can try (apart from mandatory update of all drivers and running windows update) just letting the system idle for a while (few hours should do the job). Right after install, Win 7 does some post-install procedures, files indexing, etc, tends to have a significant impact on performance depending on system specs.

running fine on all 3 of my PCs here. All are running AMD multi-core cpus, Nvidia gpus and Windows 7 ultimate. Which is not helpful I know, but it's not a generic Win7 issue.

Try deleting some save files. I heard something about large numbers of save files slowing the game down.

What was your last Operating System?
The game is running fine on my computer running on W7 64bit with 4 GB RAM, ATI HD4870512 MB.
As for that 'System Requirements' I don't take any notice of that site. With Dragon Age the site say that I failed because of my CPU which I have Intel E6850 3.0 Core2 Duo.
With the another game I failed that game because I have the wrong operating system and it run fine.

Did you install the Microsoft DirectX Redist (from their site) after installing Windows 7? The default install from the Windows 7 DVD doesn't actually contain all the DirectX files needed, for some reason.

I have had the same exact problem ever since the game came out. I have been patiently waiting for a fix ever since.
Specs:
Core2 Duo E6850
4096MB DDR2
GeForce 8800 GTX
nForce 680i SLI
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
I've reformatted 3 times so far and no luck. Also, I've tried every troubleshooting routine in the book and nothing works, so what else could it be?

My spec for my system are in my sig. But I would say add a gig of ram, make sure all your graphics drivers are up to date, and maybe upgrade the cpu to the core 2 wolfdale 3.0 ghz processor. The 8800gtx should run it fine. But you could also add a 2nd one of the same model as long as your motherboard will support it for a modest price, and that will give you a nice performance boost as well.

If you have 64bit version of W7 you should have least 4G instead of 3G. If you have 32bit I think 3G will be fine but I prefer 2G. If you have 2x2GB sticks of RAM laying about use them and I think you be fine. Do you have anything running in the background you not suppose to?

Since I've already created this for a friend, it sure won't hurt posting it here:
Or even better, you can try running Performance Monitor while playing.
-First please use this link to download the predefined data collector set I've created for you: http://rapidshare.co...ResMon.xml.html (no need to worry, it's just a XML file, but ofc feel free to test it with any AV).
-Next, go to Start -> Run -> type in 'perfmon' and hit Enter
-Click Data Collector Sets -> select User Defined node and right click on it -> select New and Data Collector Set
-Put any name you want in the input box, then select Create from a template (Recommended) and click next
-Click browse and select the file I've sent you (ResMon.xml), then click Finish
-You should now see the new Data Collector Set under the User Defined Node
-Now when you right click this set and select Start, it will monitor various system resources usage for 15 minutes, then stop and create a log in C:\\logs\\
All you need to do is to play the game for those fifteen minutes and send us the contents of this folder (RARing it and uploading it somewhere would be the best idea probably)
I hope this might point us at the source of your problem.
And one last thing - the Performance Monitor must be run under account with administrator privileges, otherwise it won't work.
Running DxDiag may be helpful too. To do so, go to Start, select Run and type in 'dxdiag'. Check it for any problems. Or in case you were not sure if everything it shows is in order, use the button saying something like 'Save all information..." at the bottom right of the screen and upload the log file (or paste it's contents in your post).

Windows 7's Windows Aero uses 1GB of memory, if I remember right. Upgrading your RAM is a good idea. 3GB might not be enough if your using Windows 7 64bit & running the game while Aero is on.

Can you believe it?
BioWare won "Best developers of 2009" users choice award.
Now that's one horrible joke.
As for your problem, dont expect a fix from BioWare, either you install XP again, or you quit playing the game. Simple as that.

I have just discovered that I have 1gb ram with a different frequency (400 Mhz instead 333 Mhz). Do you think is it a problem?

Sorry for double post but I have another problem. Is it normal that under Windows 7, after a few minutes the CPU usage reaches 100% and the memory used by the process "daorigins.exe" reaches 977,144 KB?

This is a known problem, but last i've heard, a fix has yet to be found. It seems like there's multiple failure points in DA:O memory & file management.PakGatsu wrote...
