This is almost exactly what I came here to say. Replace worried with hopeful.

I get DA 2 was not a favorite amongst fans, but why the Hawke hate?

I don't think it's The Warden either. I'd like to hope that as the Dragon Age franchise moves forward, the thought of replayability stays at the forefront. As amazing as DAO was, it would turn off the players who play it big time if they found out all the time they invested in their Wardens was for nothing if he/she just ends up as a shrouded corpse or simply not there in DA2.MageTarot wrote...

He (/she)

Not
Shepard 2.0
Bioware needs to stop trying to remake Shepard. It won't happen. Hawke was extremely frustrating to play as. I'll admit a big part of that was the diaologue wheel.
Also I want no remnants of DA2 in DAI

Bah, curse you FaWa.
You made the same point I was making, only you made it first and did it in a more amusing way.

There is a point in the preview where Varric touches somebody's body and looks sad. I am really concerned it might be Hawke, really hoping it isn't.I liked Hawke, I know in some circles people hated Hawke as a protaganist but I loved my sarcastic rogue Hawke. Do you think it is Hawke or who do you think it might be? Or do you hope it's Hawke?
Don't believe the rumors. Varric was NOT reacting to the body like he knew the person. He was reacting to the death and destruction. Thats all that scene meant to convey and thats it.

Well, the good thing about these games is that the players who don't want Hawke's story to be a part of their DA:I lore don't have to include it and the ones that do want it have the option to do so..
Isn't freedom of choice grand?

Another thought. If it WAS Hawke, Bioware would have used default Hawke. Default Hawke lacks breasts.

Well, to be specific, I'm hoping that at least MY Hawke died, because he somehow managed to turn into a character I hated... quite impressive, since I only tried to pick my choices based on how I would have acted personally (or how I SHOULD have acted, if theparaphrases had been made slightly better. At every turn, he would act completely differently than I wanted him to),

That's one less person taking the spotlight away from the protagonist.
I also don't wanna see the warden in da:I.
But I doubt it was her. Hawke doesn't go down easily.
