There is a point in the preview where Varric touches somebody's body and looks sad. I am really concerned it might be Hawke, really hoping it isn't. Image IPB   I liked Hawke, I know in some circles people hated Hawke as a protaganist but I loved my sarcastic rogue Hawke. Do you think it is Hawke or who do you think it might be? Or do you hope it's Hawke?

I doubt it's Hawke. MAYBE it's one of Hawke's companions, but I think it's probably just someone from Varric's past. Maybe his crossbow's namesake?

I think alot of people are reading too much into the fact that Varric is touching the body and looking sad. The way I see it it could just as easily be just a random body on a battlefield or after a massacre and Varric is sad because countless innocent lives have been lost. The body he is touching doesn't have to be someone he knows, it could just be that he picks that one for no reason at all to represent all of the ones that have died. It could be Hawke, it could be someone Varric knows, but there is no way of knowing for sure at this time, so I wouldn't panic just yet.

"Worried" isn't the right word.

Better options:

Hopeful
Wishing
Praying that

Don't even joke like that. Hawke isn't dead until I kill him.

This is almost exactly what I came here to say. Replace worried with hopeful.

I don't think it's Hawke either. I'd like to hope that as the Dragon Age franchise moves forward, the thought of replayability stays at the forefront. As reviled as DAII might have been, it would turn off the players who DO play it big time if they found out all the time they invested in their Hawkes was for nothing if he/she just ends up as a shrouded corpse in DA:I.

I get DA 2 was not a favorite amongst fans, but why the Hawke hate?

I don't think it's The Warden either. I'd like to hope that as the Dragon Age franchise moves forward, the thought of replayability stays at the forefront. As amazing as DAO was, it would turn off the players who play it big time if they found out all the time they invested in their Wardens was for nothing if he/she just ends up as a shrouded corpse or simply not there in DA2.

He (/she)
Is
Not
Shepard 2.0
Bioware needs to stop trying to remake Shepard. It won't happen. Hawke was extremely frustrating to play as. I'll admit a big part of that was the diaologue wheel.

Also I want no remnants of DA2 in DAI

Bah, curse you FaWa.

You made the same point I was making, only you made it first and did it in a more amusing way.

Don't believe the rumors. Varric was NOT reacting to the body like he knew the person. He was reacting to the death and destruction. Thats all that scene meant to convey and thats it.

Another thought. If it WAS Hawke, Bioware would have used default Hawke. Default Hawke lacks breasts.

I suspect both Hawke and the Warden are dead.

Well, the good thing about these games is that the players who don't want Hawke's story to be a part of their DA:I lore don't have to include it and the ones that do want it have the option to do so..

Isn't freedom of choice grand?

There look to be several "bodies" in the trailer. I don't think there is any significance to the one Varric touches. So no...I don't think it's Hawke. If anything, Varric may have stumbled upon some carnage from the templar-mage conflict.

It's funny though but I actually care about Hawke's siblings more than him / herself. I'd rather seeing Carver / Bethany again to be honest. They have more personality, and more .. say ... color, than the protagonist themselves lol

"worried"?! hm, I don't think that's the word I'm looking for... how about hopeful?

Well, to be specific, I'm hoping that at least MY Hawke died, because he somehow managed to turn into a character I hated... quite impressive, since I only tried to pick my choices based on how I would have acted personally (or how I SHOULD have acted, if theparaphrases had been made slightly better. At every turn, he would act completely differently than I wanted him to),

I say good riddance.

That's one less person taking the spotlight away from the protagonist.
I also don't wanna see the warden in da:I.
But I doubt it was her. Hawke doesn't go down easily.

No, I hope it's not Hawke...despite DA2's flaws, I LOVED my Hawkes! If they just get a stupid, not even off-screen, TRAILER DEATH I'll be disappointed.
