We've got agressive!hawke, sarcastic!hawke, diplomatic!hawke, mage!hawke, warrior!hawke, rogue!hawke... but all I want is dead!hawke. I think I'm going to write a fanfic where the warden repeatedly stabs Hawke in the face, all the while screaming, "YOU HAVE SCREWED UP EVERYTHING!"
Seriously, though, I suppose this is a bit hypocritical of me; if I load up DA3 only to find that my warden has died or will die during the game, I'll probably throw my computer out the window. So no, for the sake of his/her fans, I don't hope Hawke is dead. Or there will probably be a lot of broken consoles.

Would that be so bad? Executed well, an "anyone can die" plot twist could give DAI the dark fantasy cred it sorely needs. Just look at Game of Thrones.
Actually the death of my favorite characters combined with the long wait for the next book a Feast of Crows stopped me from continuing reading the series. Have a hard time getting invested in new characters if they just continued to get killed off- after awhile I just stopped caring. I wouldn't want this to be repeated in the Dragon Age games.

I'm pretty sure those are random corpses and the scene is meant to have us see that Varric is pained by the scale of death and devastation.
Nice to see a voice of reason. I agree 100%

Making Hawke competent now would just feel contrived and be out of character. Bioware should accept that he was a useless **** up and just run with it.

That said, I still worry that they could just kill Hawke (and the Warden) off off-screen, regardless of the trailer.

Pffft. Yes, Hawke's pansexuality/polysexuality is contagious. Clearly they were all brainwashed into being capable of falling for Hawke, regardless of what Hawke's gender is. They weren't already pansexual/polysexual. Hawke made them that way. Lol, this made my day.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own oppinion.
I personally didn't find Hawke all that relevant to the story. I don't really care if Hawke is dead or not, I just hope I never see Hawke again.
My favorite protagonists to this day still remain The Jedi Exile, Gordon Freeman and The Warden. In that order.

And some of us like both EQUALLY. We like immersing ourselves in our Wardens just as much as our Hawkes.

Before ME3 I wouldn't have been too worried about that.
Now I fear Hawke will have a bridge dropped on him/her just for some emotionally manipulative drama.
Maybe we'll see Flemeth/Morrigan, Hawke, and the Warden each offer the Inquisitor a single choice that determines the fate of all Thedas regardless of what they did before and ignoring all the prior choices in all three games. This triad will call itself the Catalyst of Thedas

Yeah...Hawke just seems to ruin everything; only thing she was good at was killing people and she even failed in that regard quite a few times (Cory and Tallis come to mind)

You pretty much summed up my feelings for Game of Thrones. It is gettting to the point where only the bad guys/****s are alive still. (And yes I am all for seeing Evil turn on eachother but just killing every single character that is justified gets a little old after a while. Rule of thumb now for Game of Thrones don't get attached to any character since they have a tendency to get backstabbed.)AmRMa wrote...

I actually like the idea of having a Dragon Age "Shepard." I don't really like having a new lead character every game as I would much rather see a large, over-lapping arc. But it's a minor complaint. In a perfect world my Warden from DA 1 and my Hawke from DA 2 will join my hero from DA 3 in some grand adventure together. But it's never going to happen.
I can understand not wanting to reuse the Warden, but I think cannon Hawke would make an awesome party member in Inquisition.
