I just started playing DA2, and I finished the deep roads expedition. It says I got a great fortune, but its not true! I only have 45 gold, about 20 of which I got in the deep roads! Less than what I paid to go on the expedition!
Now Id be fine with that, as Bertrand stole everything I thought, except that the cinematic said i somehow had a great fortune! And wasnt Varric supposed to pay me back the money?
Where's my fortune from the Deep Roads?

Jafroboy, the money from the expedition is tied up in the estate and your day-to-day living expenses. That's why you never pay taxes or wages for your servants or a food bill.
The 45 sovereigns is more like a "petty cash fund" that goes towards equipment.

Exactly, the money in your inventory is almost like your spending cash, the rest of it went into the estate, or has been invested or whatnot.

I had way more than 40 sovereigns though. I ended up with about ninety after that mission was completed.
