because you wouldn't feel emotion if there was not a kid in it :P

Honestly that kid has become legendary for his sheer irrelevancy beyond a misguided attempt at empathy by the developers.

Thing is, he shows his true colors if you pick Refuse. He resorts back to the booming voice and is just another Reaper all along. More proof that he's just screwing with you at first.

I dunno, refuse was a bizzare experience, honestly it felt like bioware was jumblig a couple ideas to keep us guessing. But having no clue what the answer was themselves.

Maybe.

If there's one thing that isn't an accident though, it's that the Catalyst is able to get into Shepard's mind. How else would the Catalyst even know how to take the form of that specific child? It isn't merely a choice on the developers part. He's already in his mind. EDI says the Reapers were doing similar things with Earth inhabitants, by setting up mock peace talks and such. All to disarm them. I think the developers are pretty consistent at least when it comes to the Reapers and their ability to screw people over from the inside. They're not doing anything different here.

Why are threads like this being made, one year and three months after the release of the game?

Well because the Romance forum got shut down, multiplayer is a joke, and this ending is one of the worst endings in the medium.

We've got nothing else to do.

You haven't played many games then.

Keep in mind, I'm a new player (but not new to ME1 and 2). I'm still catching up with a lot of this stuff. Too bad others are tired of it. Not my problem though.

Enough to know that ME3 is nowhere near the worst.

But seriously can you say ME3 reached it's potential?

Of course it didn't. Very few games does. Still, from a story standpoint, it's miles above many other video games out there.

I happen to like ME3. Just not the ending. I don't think that's being a "hater" to say that. Hell, the Genophage sequence is one of the best of the whole series. Best among many RPGs, really.

I don't know why he's still there. I guess they like torturing by putting in a bad film reference (Contact) as something deep in the game to make us go "Woooah", when in reality we went "Wtf is this ****?"

The child is there because it's Harbinger pulling off his last mindscrew.

Harbinger says in Arrival that he'll have your mind, and throughout the games, he keeps insisting similar things. And now he did it.

Considering ME3 is the bottom of the barrel in my collection... yeah...

Command and Conquer 4 might be tied with it though.

Learned what, exactly? That they don't need former fans to be financially successful?

We aren't, considering the chance to fix it all was hopelessly wasted and made things worse.

That even though there are no legal repruccusions for dishonest marketing (in this case), there are  PR ones. Mass Effect 3, I can say with out a doubt, was a disaster for biowares reputation.

And that means something, what exactly? I don't know yet, perhaps we will get a clearer idea in the next few years.

A disaster which costed how much with the EC? 10 000$ just to upload it on XBL plus all the other costs

But hey, according to the numbers upset people are the minority (I mean bioware's secret but definitely true numbers.....according to them)

Blatant lies like this?
Well, i don't think that reputation really matters. They've lost a lot of visitors on their sites, but that's all about it. They've made all DLCs they planned, meaning they are also a financial success.
So lesson is learned - they don't need their former fanbase.
People buy crap games all the time, so that's not a problem. Especially, when ME3 is not a crap game, it just have horrible, nonsensical story and characters.
Meaning that they've changed their target audience to those, who don't care about meaningful story with believable characters. And that doesn't hurt them at all.

And that means something, what exactly? I don't know yet, perhaps we will get a clearer idea in the next few years.

We'll see.

It means a loss in confidence. And as any economist will tell you, confidence = money.

No one invests in something they do not have confidence in. Fortunately, BW make consumable goods with a relatively fast rate of turnover and have a back catalogue of successful products. So the confidence is still there in that ME3 was a one off. It will however, be DA:I and ME4 that decide BW's future.
