My definition of "poor" is being given a "present" that cant even handle the native resolution of a 5 Year old HDTV without melting. Its a sad state of affairs when a 5yr old HDTV from 2010 can display in 1080P all day long but a "next gen" console in 2015 can only manage 900p natively without overheating. So in reflection I feel pity for someone who is given one of these "presents".But then that's me when i buy someone a present i don't buy them cheap useless tat, I get them the best thing money can buy because they deserve better then mediocrity.

When someone I care about wants them a bike I buy them the best and fastest bike around, not the cheap slow one just because the slow one is "trendy" or whatever Quality over Quantity and PS4/XB1 has zero Quality at all Technologically speaking.

I'm sure your opinion would rocket up if they pandered to the pc master race crowd.

Nope would not have changed my opinion to me it was another GTA clone with a wild west vibe but thats completely unrelated as to why my views on consoles as a "present" are an insult not a "gift".

When it comes to gaming I put laptops pre built computers and consoles in the same boat for at least 2 reasons:

1)They are pre-built from cheap low power parts completely unsuitable for the purpose of gaming despite consoles not needing to be portable to the same extent of a laptop so the low power components pointless at best since battery life is not an issue.

2)When you buy someone a cheap off the shelf prebuilt item as a present for someone you know what it says to the person receiving the gift?

It says that I don't consider you to be worth my time, effort and money? So I'll buy you the latest trend in disposable doodads.

I'd guess you won't be able to comprehend point 2 unless you the hands on sort who likes use their hands to craft things for their friends and relatives.I'll give and example:

November last Year was my Cousins 30th birthday and also his 2nd Wedding anniversary, most of his friends, family and work collegues gave him and his wife the usually tat( toaster, latest iPhone,56 inch TV etc etc)You know what I gave him and his wife ?

A solid Oak Dining Table and 8 matching chairs that I had crafted myself in my spare time over the space of 6 months,on it was a engraved plate that said " To Robert and Louise This solid Oak table will still be good as new in 80yrs may you marriage last just as long with each day feeling as blissful as the first" I'll give you 1 guess as to which they appreciated the most.

The point is I could have gone to a home depot and bought a premade set for a fraction of what it cost me in time and materials but that's not my way because the people in my life are worth every second of my time and effort and nothing says "You are important to me" more then something you have put your time effort blood and sweat into making.

Hey Mister Judgemental. Many people prefer consoles to PCs and that is not a problem.

Back to the OP....PS4!!!!

That's an amazing thoughtful gift and all but it doesn't nearly compare to consoles not being a gift.

Wow, I'm sure his friends and family would love you to hear you to call their presents tat. I'm sure it would be fun to watch on his next birthday at least. Case in point: Not everyone has enough time or money to do something like that. Or even the skill. That does not mean their presents had any less value, or were any less heartfelt. There are people who would do anything for an iphone, or even a "20 inch TV so don't get all high and mighty mr 'Uh an iPhone 5 what a worthless piece of ****.'

Also, this is completely unrelated to the topic.

All that is very nice, except want to know what is worse to hear from a friend than even if what you said was true 'Yeah I know you spent a money on my gift but I consider it to be an insult' that response would if I ever got it from a 'Friend' would get the response from me of 'Well then good bye I don't need you in my life'. It's funny, but the part you think is an insult, is not the insult. That's the last I'm going to say about this with you.
