And 12 minutes is utter BS.
I interpreted it as defending the LZ which means the area around it too and not just the blue circle. The opposite of defending the LZ on Ghost would be to run to the other side of the map, so in my opinion it is a location based as an area of the map in terms of divided squares. All the enemies are coming toward the LZ and you hold the line next to the ammo box instead of kiting or hiding somewhere. If you eliminate kiting or hiding and you instead stand your ground at the area of the LZ (without going inside the buildings) then you are holding the LZ.
If it is as you say a bunch of people sitting in the blue circle then good riddance to them. My point was that there is no need to run to the other side of the map if you have decent players in your team
If I may ask, why would 12 minutes be BS on Ghost Platinum when using rockets? The very first day that Platinum came out we did it in 18 minutes (with BSN member "A Wild Snorlax" and his friends) without using rockets or leaving the "extraction" area except for objective waves. I would believe that it would not be that hard to cut off 6 more minutes if we were actually using rockets on say wave 5, 8 and 9. So why would it be BS?

It will always be going on. When players get used to the game they stand at the LZ and persevere together, when players are new to the game they stand at the LZ and die together.
When they are somewhere in between they will stay on the other side of the map

Most people I have played with seem to like to run around through the back room and then attack the spawn down below and then retreat slowly back towards the room as the enemies come up.

I see it far too often on Hydra and occasionally on Jade. Both are equally dreadful ideas.

I really do wonder why PUGs deliberately choose Hydra so much when they fail at it so hard... Is it a really awesome super easymode map on Bronze or something?

Because PUGs enjoy getting sniped from 4 directions simultaneously and then pointlessly trying to revive each other while under fire from a pair Ravagers or Cerberus Turrets or whatever.

On Bronze/Silver things are way to easy + made even easier that more folks with higher manifest uber weapons play these difficulties more then Gold or Plat. So things die way too fast. So fast things die, even from weak pugs cause they don't worry about being careful "just jump in front of a mob of enemies and spray" mindless mindset = basically what forced me to hurry into Gold cause things didn't die as fast, you had to be carfull instead of it being a mad run to just kill anything as careless as possible.

He meant the actual LZ, that's really horrible to defend. The area around the ammo box is easy compared to that.
With missiles on 5, 8 and 9 you can't get a 12 minute time.

What is cheap is when people run up the waterfall at the back of the map and then drop down behind so that they land plum in the middle of the LZ just before the clock ticks to zero and, BOOM, extraction complete - bonus 10% credits thank you very much

Wait, don't you get extra creds if you hold the LZ on extraction wave?
No, the extra credits are for a full extraction, not who hangs out in the LZ and drawing every baddie there like a mouse to cheese.

So what time would be more accurate? I mean, we did get extraction in 18 minutes without rockets on the first day of Platinum (aka no experience from that difficulty). Now with good experience from Platinum and use of rockets, what would be the result?

Yep I meant the actual LZ, where there are those few crates to take cover. The place that you mentioned is actually the place where I stay during the game. And yes that's easy to defend with good team.
Those pugs went down to the actual LZ and there they died <_< On platinum you get warped, shot, siege pulsed, and beamed even if you're taking cover behind those crates. It's horrible as Max said
On Hydra I have good laughs in control room when pugs rush to LZ. It's funny how enemies sometimes ignore you when people camp the LZ. Even if I shoot the enemies they still don't show any intrest in me

You can stand together and destroy every enemy that approaches or hide and hope that you will survive the objective. Much more fun doing the former.
