Because of the numbers associated with my name, I've noticed a lot of other players unequipping consumables when I enter a lobby. That's not ok guys.
Should I promote to boost N7 ranking?

No, you should only promote if you enjoy it, want the banner, or like doing low level characters. Anyone who judges by N7 rank should be thrown out the airlock.
