I remember a post detailing the system they were considering for DA:I, and it would be awesome if it was included, but I don't think companion customization is something that should be expected, even though it's a staple of party-based RPGs. After all, in DA2, you are playing Hawke, not Anders or Isabela or anyone else, so you aren't entitled to control what they wear.

There are trade offs as in all things when you do this. The more you customize outfits the more generic the character has to be. I would not want to be able to change their physical appearance at all.

I would like to be able to hand over good armour and weapon drops that I can't use for myself. I don't want to change their physical appearance. I'm not overly concerned about the realism of controlling what they wear, since in DA2 it was equally unrealistic that most of them had the same outfit on for a decade.
I'm well aware of what was in Origins, what's your point?WillPF363 wrote...

That seems more like a philosophical distinction or an excuse than an answer or gamplay reason. In Origins we played the Warden not the companions, but we could still control their equipment and skills/talents. I prefer greater customization, especially when it comes to talents/abilities.

How does changing their weapons and armor = them becoming generic

Companion customisation is in the game, and it looks pretty neat.

That looks awesome; keeping their unique look but tweaking it with gear we find? Yes please.
Hopefully they decide to stick with that.

See the other post I just made about this. No problem for the heads or faces if they use head morphs like in other games but it is a problem if they have made special models for some of the companions to e distinct. Isabela for example. Varric pehaps as well. Tech may have been improved but in the past if you want every suit of armor to fit every person then the person must be the same height and pretty well the same body dimensions.
Exactly! I hate finding loot that would be great for somebody else and not being able to use it.Dabrikishaw wrote...
As long as they can wear the extra armor I will be collecting, I will be fine.
