"Tull joked that you don't want to tick off fans of Commander Shepard, and shot down the notion of ever doing Mass Effect as a TV series in conjunction with or separate from the planned feature film."

Mass Effect only works as a film if it's NOT Shepard.

well...you know..hey...

If they are doing this, I hope they do a great job. Such a great job that it's wildly successful and can stand on its own.

I love a good sci-fi movie.

I don't see why they ruled out TV. If anything, TV is an even more expansive media than movies. TV shows usually run longer, can get further in depth, can be altered based on fan feedback for future episodes, and have the advantage of the suspense created when viewers have to wait a week (or more, if between seasons) for the resolution of a plot point.

If there is any media I would fully endorse, it would be TV.

I'd push for a series than a movie. But in any case, I can't take any Shepard that isn't my own very seriously.

If Legendary is smart, they'll mire this in development so that it never sees the light of day. If people thought the ****storm after the ME3 ending was bad, the ****storm a movie centered on Shepard's story would cause will be even worse. I don't think many people will be able to accept a "canon" Shepard that a movie would establish. It's pretty obvious even based on this "joke" statement that Legendary is thinking along the same lines. They're wary of sending Mass Effect fans into another feeding frenzy.

Honestly, I'd have no issue if they did a movie based on commander shepard. I mean its not like it would change my ME1-3 storyline for my own shepards. and its not like he has to be a sacred cow or anything.

If they have myriad ways of doing Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Star Trek and heck even Star Wars adaptions, they have just as many ways they can take on ME, or whatever other video game movie they have in the works like Assassin's Creed with Fassbender and so on. It was only a matter of time before video games started making their way into the movie houses... what with the amount of production that goes into em now a days.

But I would have to agree I would rather see ME as a TV series than a movie.

and is it bad I'd like Joss Whedon to do it? :)

I think a spinoff movie would be best, where Shepard isn't the main protagonist tbh. It's not a common spin on a game based movie though.

I want the girl from Castle as Jane Shepard.

Since the ME series is done I would love to see it done as a TV series as long as they don't crap on the lore and the characterizations as they did in Legend of the Seeker which was a good series if they didn't slap the names of beloved characters onto personas that are nothing like their progenitors. TNT could probably do it right or A&E they would need to get writers that are fans of the games writers who love the games as much as the fans in the way Peter Jackson loved Lord of the Rings.

I know they would probably go with John Shepard but I can dream of ME with Jane but its okay since the rest of the cast of female characters are just as strong and interesting as Jane.

Really wish they wouldn't do it about Shepard's story.

Set it during the time of the games, but don't make it about Shepard. Everybody already knows how it will end. (And isn't happy about it.)

Give us a fresh protagonist, and if you must, have a small cameo from Liara, Tali, or Garrus. Characters we know, but that stay the same throughout the games. Mention Saren, but don't show him. Make it have a completely unique story that loosely ties in with the game. Let us see Noveria, or even Feros.

They can make it tie in and be related to the universe without making a carbon copy of the default choices.

Here here! That sounds perfect. Or if they must do it about Shepard, I wish they'd do FemShep. A new Sigourney Weaver of sorts. I remember hearing Jen Hale mention in an interview that she felt like that.
